Non Compos Mentis: The Un-Candidate

Can he find his way?

Let’s be blunt. Let’s cut through the nonsense and simply state what is clear to every sound mind which has been judging the 2020 Presidential Campaign: Joe Biden is not fit to be President of the United States.  He’s diminished in mental capacity, and he’s sliding downward toward the lower bounds of legal competence.  I say this with no particular excitement, since this is a condition that may come to plague many of us who survive to advanced age.  It isn’t a pleasant thing.  It isn’t to be taken lightly, and for the sake of the Republic, it is a condition that must not be ignored.  We can all make fun of #DroolingJoe and talk about a man clearly into his dotage, but the truth is that we’re talking about a man who seeks the highest office in the land.  Does Biden even understand the seriousness any longer?  Does he comprehend the critical details that may be told him as he assesses national security issues?  Is he even capable, if ever he was, of recognizing and integrating the facts that will confront him should he obtain that high perch in our government?  I think the answer is clear, and I don’t think the whole body of the American people know the degree to which they’re being misled about his unfitness.  Joe Biden isn’t merely unfit to be President of the United States, but he’s unfit even to be a candidate for that office.  Others have aptly suggested that Joe Biden is being used as a Trojan Horse for the advancement of radical leftist policies, and while this is true, it’s only possible because Biden’s unfitness makes of him an empty vessel, easily used for nefarious purposes.  Joe Biden’s unfitness makes of him something worse: Biden is the Un-candidate.

Biden’s candidacy is defined mostly by what it isn’t.  In the main, the left tells you, “he isn’t Donald Trump.” His is a campaign of negation, not even of Donald Trump’s actual record, but merely the straw-man record erected by political flacks and consultants for Joe Biden to carry out a tightly-scripted series of unquestioned, unchallenged attacks.  Nobody is permitted to ask Biden any actual, unscripted, unrehearsed questions.  When he holds a press conference, his answers are already loaded on the teleprompter, meaning the questions are known, and the questioners cannot get a follow-up question because that would cause Biden to deviate from his script.  Without his script, Biden is a babbling, angry old man, confused and disoriented in a substantially disturbed way, and it’s quite evident that he’s incapable of higher-order thinking, particularly under pressure or in anything like a rapid-fire sort of circumstance.  A President already has a staff of people to juggle the myriad of balls that are inevitably flying through the air, but a candidate for President must juggle even more.  Biden isn’t capable of following a single ball on his own, as his inability even to stick to the carefully scripted teleprompter scroll clearly indicates.  He’s left to haplessly mouth phrases that still ring in his memory, as he struggles to wrestle free from his rapidly thickening mental fog. It’s not that he simply can’t get the words out, but that he has no words left to expel. What dribbles out instead, sometimes in fits and starts, is a garbled mush of phrases, piled one atop the next, like a babbling idiot who has lost the plot.

His handlers know this all too well. They’re trying to hold him together like a bag of soup, squeezed and shaped into the likeness of a presidential candidate, but always distorting wherever the bag is poorly supported.  He can’t maintain his shape, any more than you can sculpt liquid water, and what this means to his handlers is that they must constantly scramble to keep his increasingly muddled form into a moving image where the distortions are partially hidden by the motion.  He’s not capable of an actual debate against Donald Trump, or even against a well-schooled eighth-grader.  He’s unable. Simply put, he’s not up to the job.  Here’s a leftist critic, earlier in the primary season, with an assessment of a Biden interview:

That interview was back in April. Biden’s condition is worsening. This sample is from August 31st, when he become obviously confused reading the teleprompter, and completely loses the plot:

The mainstream media is doing all it can to hide this from you, but these episodes of confusion and mental disorientation have become increasingly common. It’s not just that we’re confronted with a man who has obvious mental decline – we all get there if we live long enough – but that we’re watching a man who can’t keep it together for short-term campaign events.  It’s actually sad, but my sympathies for Joe’s declining mental condition don’t permit me to ignore a couple of important things:

  • Joe Biden is not fit to be President, or Senator, or Dog Catcher. He’s not capable of campaigning for the job, never mind doing it.
  • The people around Joe, including family, MUST be aware of this – so why would they do this to Joe in his waning days?
  • The people in Joe’s entourage are clearly exploiting Joe. How miserable must it be to be used as political cannon fodder?
  • Since Joe is so clearly an emptying vessel, what will his handlers fill him with?

On that last question, we’re already seeing the answer. One approach to successfully, convincingly repeating audacious lies is to be oblivious to the fact that one is liying. Joe Biden is the perfect vessel for bald-faced lies, because he’s only being asked to repeat them with conviction. He may not be fully aware of the truth, one way or the other, at least not in the sense we would understand it.  In the last few days, he’s accused Trump of lying about the seriousness of COVID19 #WuFlu, despite the fact that Biden himself called Trump’s China travel ban in response to the pandemic an overreaction and evidence of xenophobia back in February. In fact, this is the trend of the entire Biden-Harris campaign in the weeks since the Republican convention. It had been clear to all observers that the DNC was a dud, but that the RNC was a spectacularly successful event. Since then, the lies have been non-stop, and the contrived media attacks have been coming in like waves pounding a beach like cyclonic storm surges.

This may be the biggest secret to the un-candidacy of Joe Biden: The whole of the media is coordinating an endless series of nonsensical, easily disproven lies, or “pseudo-events,” as Mark Levin has most recently begun to label them… but there is no there, there.  Not once.  Not even a little bit.  Even the Atlantic’s fraudulent editor is now admitting the “loser-sucker” story of last week may in fact be false, despite a whole holiday weekend of headlines blaring “Confirmed…” Biden’s candidacy is a vehicle for demeaning and attacking President Trump, but it is not a real candidacy advocating the policies of a would-be President. To the degree the Biden campaign even discusses policy, it’s always couched in criticisms of Trump and Republicans, but never offers a substantive advocacy of their own ideas.  All of it is a negation.  It’s not the advancement of ideas, but the plain nullification of them.  Worse, because the media is predominately sympathetic to Biden’s general political party, and because they see him as the sole available vehicle for advancing their position, they don’t talk about his actual policies, which are primarily warmed-over Bernie Sanders re-treads.

The Biden campaign is nothing but a series of negations and disguises.  First, they wish to conceal from your eyes the plain unfitness of Joe Biden.  Failing that, they wish to concoct failures of Donald Trump that really hadn’t been, and when all else fails, they simply lie about it.  The media is, in the main, almost indistinguishable from the Democrat party and the Biden campaign.  For all intents and purposes, they are one organ, functioning seamlessly from end to end.  Joe Biden clearly isn’t running this. He’s being run. Kamala Harris isn’t capable of this level of planning.  Who is running their campaign?  What dark forces stand behind Joe Biden?  Who provides the scripts for his teleprompters?  Who provides the permissible questions to so-called “reporters?”  This entire campaign is a vacuum.  There’s no competent candidate.  There’s no new ideas.  There’s no guiding philosophy, or even an espoused coherent governing intent.  There’s nothing.  It’s as though they’re play-acting their way through the campaign, knowing they cannot win, but stubbornly heaving dung at the wall hoping to make something stick.  The Biden campaign can’t raise a crowd more than a few dozen.  Hell, in some instances, more Trump supporters show up at Biden events than do actual Biden supporters.  There must be some other purpose, some other underlying motive.  What are they waiting for?  It’s as though they know Biden will not be their candidate, and what Biden is doing is to simply fill time until…

Somebody steps in to replace him?

I maintain that the Biden campaign is part of a larger subterfuge.  Whether it is eventually eclipsed by some other candidate who rides in to rescue the Democrats, time will tell, but there is something dreadfully wrong with the Biden campaign.  It’s empty.  Its only purpose seems to be to soften-up the opposition.  It’s like Patton’s phantom invasion force being assembled in England for a supposed attack against Calais, while all the time, the real force is being assembled elsewhere for an attack on Normandy.  It’s all piss and wind. To take Biden’s candidacy seriously may be to fall for the enemy’s feint.  It’s simply too vacuous.  If this is the entire sum and total of the Democrat’s candidacy, they are well and truly beaten.  Biden isn’t fit.  He isn’t competent.  He’s barely there at all. His is the un-candidacy: Of, by and for the incompetent.  What’s worse: they know it. Does Joe?

Veterans Administration Proposes to Strip Veterans of Gun Rights

Helping Veterans?

It was inevitable.  When I posted my concerns about how the government could use claims by veterans of PTSD and other combat-related issues, I have long suspected the Obama administration would act to curtail the Second Amendment rights of veterans on the basis of such claims.  A story being reported by Jim Hoft via the Gateway Pundit reveals that the VA is already mailing out letters that are threatening some veterans with precisely that sanction.  The story originates with Red Flag, in a post written by constitutional attorney Michael Connelly.  At present, this seems to be aimed at people who the VA considers incompetent to handle their own affairs, because they’ve asked for help with their benefits.  While I’d like to know more about the specifics of these classifications, and how that determination has been made, let it suffice for the moment to consider that the Veterans Administration’s policy in this matter is an extension of an overall move by the Obama administration to strip veterans of the right to keep and bear arms.

I have warned veterans in previous posts about how they would be targeted, and it has been suspected by wary veterans for some time that the VA first approved claims for PTSD as the future means by which to strip rights from veterans, but few took notice. We already know that the Department of Homeland Security headed by Janet Napolitano considers veterans a threat, and viewed through the lens of leftist revolutionaries, it’s perfectly understandable.  Veterans are a generally patriotic group who had sworn an oath to the US Constitution, so that their loyalties ought generally to be in favor of our republican form of government.  They will be viewed necessarily as potential counter-revolutionaries if the left succeeds in pushing their “fundamental transformation” to its completion.  Skilled in arms, and generally understanding at least rudimentary guerrilla tactics, US Military veterans comprise a significant potential danger to leftist designs.

In 2010, the Veterans Administration began approving claims for PTSD more easily than in previous years.  This was not accidental.  By making claims of PTSD easier, the VA created a new open door for borderline claims that enable more veterans to find an easier path to compensation.  That is the enticement, and it worked because more veterans than ever have used the new rules to file such claims and derive compensation.  The problem is that the PTSD classification carries with it the immediate potential of such judgments as are being made about veterans’ basic competence.  On that basis, to consider a veteran incompetent to handle his or her own affairs, and thus strip them of the right to keep and bear arms is but a short step.  As previously stated on this site, I would never discourage any veteran from seeking help actually needed, but I would caution all those who would consider making a claim for PTSD to think long and hard about what they may be giving up.

Consider the ease with which the VA will make this argument: Persons suffering with PTSD can be volatile and sometimes unstable or violent.  Sometimes, they are suicidal.  In any of these cases, one would not ordinarily entertain the notion of permitting such persons to own firearms, irrespective of their service records.  Making the leap to declaring these persons “incompetent” on the basis of their inability to pursue the VA processes (to the extent they ask for help) is an easy method by which to get veterans classified in this way.  A determination of incompetence is the death knell of one’s Second Amendment rights.  Veterans pursuing claims of PTSD (or anything else) with the VA should think long and hard about the consequences because while we certainly do not want veterans to go without the assistance they need, it would be awful to awake and find that the VA is painting with an overly broad brush and subjecting most veterans to this kind of classification.

Consider the cases involving veterans with the PTSD classification who have committed acts of violence even after returning to civilian life.  How difficult will it be to sell to the public that their veterans are dangerous time-bombs waiting to explode?  Nobody in the Obama administration will think even twice about characterizing veterans in this way, which is why Napolitano did not issue an apology for classifying veterans as potential terrorists until after extended heavy criticism.  Finding a way to control veterans’ right to keep and bear arms has long been an object of the radical left.  As evidenced by the sort of letters now being received by numerous veterans, calling into question their competence to lead their own lives, including their right to possess firearms, it must be understood that the left wants to disarm as many veterans as possible.

More, initially, they will use test cases to see how far they can press the matter, and I expect that the first round of recipients of such letters represent the testing of this procedure.  They will begin with veterans who have more obvious cases and who may be incompetent in some respect, with a few more questionable cases thrown in to test the limits.  They will make the initial cases based on the public danger aspects, and once they succeed in making the procedure appear perfectly rational and sensible, they will begin processing wider and wider groups of veterans in the same manner.  The first run through this procedure will be mostly actual cases of concern, because the early object of this will be to legitimize and normalize the process.  Once it has become perfectly normal to strip a handful of veterans with real problems of their rights, the process will be widened to include more and more veterans, until a soldier who once stubbed his toe on a parade field will be subject to this classification.

To my brothers and sisters who have served, I urge caution.  To those currently serving, I want you to beware of what seem to be easier paths to compensation.  If you need help, get it.  If you can live without it, avoid it. Know that contrary to what you have been told, the Veterans Administration is not necessarily your friend.  As an arm of government, the administration of which is now dominated by leftists, the VA is an adjunct of their policy preferences, and those preferences include particularly the disarming of America, especially its veterans.  There is no organization on Earth better positioned to accomplish that goal with less muss and fuss than the VA, and as is evidenced by the case brought before us by Jim Hoft and Michael Connelly, they intend to use it to maximum effect.

Barack Obama IS NOT Incompetent

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

It’s No Accident

I have listened to Republicans discussing Barack Obama’s various policy failures, and I have noticed a trend.  Among Republican moderates, there is a tendency to say that Barack Obama is clueless, and that “he just doesn’t get it.”  This willingness to permit him to claim “good intentions” is a farce.  Genuine conservatives examine the policies of Barack Obama, and will subsequently conclude the ugly truth, and it isn’t that Obama is incompetent. Instead, they see in his action a clear and unambiguous malevolence that should not be hidden behind a facade of mere incapacity for the job.  Barack Obama’s policies are designed to damage and diminish the United States, and pretending he’s merely a bumbling dolt doesn’t address the gravity of our national situation.  I understand well why the RINO set does this, but it’s time for somebody to speak up in candid opposition.  Among the remaining candidates, only two show any willingness to do so, and from my point of view, this disqualifies any who won’t.

Mitt Romney says “Obama is in over his head.”  That’s pure nonsense.  Barack Obama hasn’t issued executive orders and regulations of the sort we have seen from his administration because he’s “in over his head.”  The ban on drilling had nothing to do with his intelligence or capacity to govern, just as the Keystone XL pipeline decision was not born of simple incompetence.  These were carefully calculated decisions that are intended to reduce the amount of oil available to the market, with at least two goals, both designed to weaken our country and burden its people, thus wrecking their lives.

Barack Obama wasn’t acting out of incompetence when he imposed a healthcare system and attending regulations that will force Catholics to buy insurance that will include contraception coverage to which  they are opposed as a matter of conscience.  He wasn’t acting out of a lack of knowledge when he was handing out cash from the public trough to purveyors of the “Green jobs” scam typified by Solyndra.  These were things undertaken not as a matter of his inability to “get it,” or because he was “in over his head,” but because he intended to punish people of faith and reward his slimy friends, respectively.

The President didn’t mistakenly negotiate a deal that provided for dramatic cuts of our national defense.  He knew this would be the ultimate outcome, and he tasked his party in both Houses of Congress to help him make sure this would indeed happen.  He wasn’t acting out of a naive indifference to our strategic defense capabilities when he agreed to provide the Russians with our missile defense secrets, and he wasn’t incapable of seeing the danger involved in fomenting the so-called “Arab Spring” that now stands on the verge of becoming and Islamic winter.  He wasn’t unaware of the Green Revolution in Iran that stood in opposition to Ahmedinejad, but he did nothing to even offer those people a bit of hope until almost three years after it was all over.  He wasn’t acting from a state of professional ignorance when he pulled our troops out of Iraq, because he had been told what would eventuate as a result.  None of these things were done because Obama had been incompetent, but because he is too competent in damaging our country.

His willingness to give away a number of oil-rich Alaskan islands to the Russians isn’t a matter of incompetence either, and as former Senate candidate Joe Miller made clear, there’s nothing we’re getting out of this deal except a kick in the behind.  It wasn’t mere lack of experience that leads him to disarm the United States of its strategic nuclear weapons.  It’s not a matter of being in over his head that makes him respond to the demands of Soros while ignoring the will of the American people in his legislative agenda.  It’s not his “good intentions” that are at work in any of this, because in point of fact, it cannot be demonstrated that he has any intentions but the malevolent.

Gingrich and Santorum both managed to point this out in varying ways in the debate on CNN on Wednesday night, but the problem is that Romney is still playing patty-cakes with Obama, and offers Obama the cover of “good intentions,” and “incompetence.”  Barack Obama is not incompetent.  The policies he’s pursued have but one over-arching goal, and it’s perfectly honest to anybody who rejects blinders in the matter: He is damaging and diminishing the United States by every method available, from defense to debt; from energy to liberty; in law and regulation.  This man who occupies the office of the President is methodically deconstructing the United States, its historical prosperity and vitality, and leaving in its place shrinking, dying industries and rotting cities, along with a people nearly unable to fend for themselves.

This isn’t accidental.  This isn’t because he’s hapless.  Republicans should stop pretending that Obama is anything but a malevolent creature if they want my support.  I cannot accept the useless oratory of Mitt Romney who will not speak of that which is obvious in the nation all around us.  That sort of timid, tepid, morally rudderless and non-judgmental rhetoric does nothing to fix the problem because it hides from the eyes of the American people how awful Barack Obama’s willfully, purposefully chosen courses of action have been.   I have no more patience for candidates who will not state the obvious:  Barack Obama is openly harming the country, and he’s not incompetent at all.  Instead, he’s damnably good at it, and any candidate who cannot say this will not get my support.  It’s time for them to find the courage to speak the truth about our President, and all the awful implications of his actions.
