Sexual Assault Being Hushed By Occupiers?

Cold Prevails; Occupy Gets Too Cozy for Comfort

The New York Post is reporting that another sexual assault has occurred in the Occupy Wall Street tent city in Zuccotti Park.  You can read the story at the post, but what I find curious about the situation isn’t that another sexual assault has happened, but instead, the odd reaction of the victim, and of the Occupiers.  It suggests that something really ugly is going on in the OWS movement, and I think it is related to the story from yesterday from Joel Pollak at Breitbart about the media strategy of Occupy Wall Street.  They’re trying to make negative news related to their protest disappear, and in this case, it sounds as though the victim has been told to shut up about it.

This is another stark reminder of a different revolution, nearly a century ago, when women were told to shut up about rapes that happened among revolutionaries.  The Bolsheviks also insisted that women “take one for the team,” and not discredit their revolution by complaining about rape.  Could this be a sign that OWS really has regressed to the state of a century-old repressive reflex in the name of propaganda? Looking at the statements from the victim, it seems so.

From the post article:

A sex fiend barged into a woman’s tent and sexually assaulted her at around 6 a.m., said protesters, who chased him from the park.

“Pervert! Pervert! Get the f–k out!” said vigilante Occupiers, who never bothered to call the cops.

“They were shining flashlights in his face and yelling at him to leave,” said a woman who called herself Leslie, but refused to give her real name.

She said that weeks earlier another woman was raped.

“We don’t tell anyone,” she said. “We handle it internally. I said too much already.”

“Handle it internally?”  How can they “handle it internally?” These people aren’t a law unto themselves.  More, in saying “internally,” it’s an admission that the assault was carried out by another Occupier.  This wasn’t some rogue interloper who targeted an Occupier, but a fellow Occupier who carried on his assault.

Ladies and gentlemen, if nothing else tells you about the nature of Occupy Wall Street, this should be the thing that grabs your attention.  In order to minimize negative media coverage, this poor victim of a sexual assault is being asked to shut up for the sake of the movement.  That’s sick.  There’s something very unhealthy about any movement that seeks to silence victims within its own ranks in order to stave off negative publicity.  The Occupiers wish to be thought of as relatively harmless, in the same vein of the Tea Party, but I can guarantee you that no such perpetrator would be given cover by a Tea Party organization.

That’s the most amazing thing, because while there will be no police report, and no official pursuit or prosecution of the perpetrator, he will likely go free, able to pursue other women on the streets of New York, victimizing others because the OWS organization has promised this one victim that they will “handle it internally.”  Everybody who realizes what this means about the nature of the Occupy Wall Street movement, and how they are willing to close ranks around a sexual predator in order to preserve some notion of their purity is a sign that OWS is a diseased movement. I realize that one predator doesn’t define the movement, but permitting themselves to be associated with a movement that hushes sexual assault victims in order to avoid negative publicity is sick, and serious and thoughtful OWS members should flee this movement if they’re serious about individual liberties. It’s clear that if this is the operational direction of OWS, no civilized people should endorse it.

this is mob rule and the rules are take whatever you want by any means since life is not fair, anything is fair in the mob rule book. the strong take from the weak, and those who are stronger than the protestors in wealth are enemies to be destroyed by any means.
this mind set of seeing a life of being a victim and unfairly treated might have been true of blacks in the USA in times past, or the long suffering unemployed and homeless. However, the "protestors" don't even claim to have suffered such problems or calamities.
my suggestion is to set up a free beer and hot dog party at the riverfront, and load them onto a garbage barge for a free ride to the dump.

What did the Progressives do around Slick Willy's sexual predator proclivities? What do the Progressives do around any supporter of their ideology breaking any rule/law/ethical or moral standard, as long as the perpetrator continues to support the movement?

Very close example of the difference between a republic which the Tea Party stand for, and a democracy, Mob Rule.
I say close because in a democracy they wouldn't have chased him out, they would have hung him… But to keep it under wraps they chased him out…

We enjoy a democratically elected representative republic. The only time there is any form of democracy is at the voting booth and in the chambers of congress. This is why we the voters are bombarded by so much propoganda from both sides and this propaganda is what started the OWS movement. Pure Liberal and RINO BS propaganda when in fact it is the true conservatives on both sides of the isle who are more concerned about the welfare of the American public.

By not detaining him and/or calling 911 they gave their approval and in my opinion became accessories to the crime and deserve to be arrested themselves.

  6. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. What's sad is that news media is complicit in not reporting illegal activity at OWS protests.

This is the victim’s (and the rest of her ilk’s) purported philosophy surging to its logical conclusion; she was forced to spread her wealth against her wishes. What is good for the goose . . . . She does not like the result as to her; I guess it is a matter of whose ox is being gored. She has allied herself with this group of two-legged parasites and can live with the consequences, as far as I am concerned. They are the “99%,” and believe by virtue of their numbers, they can take whatever they wish from whomever they wish. We’re next. As for the veil of secrecy, as ignorant as this bunch is, they know intuitively that their agenda cannot survive the light of day, and the revelations will not be lost to the rest of us. Poof! There goes their credibility and concomitant support.

  8. And because the man was not detained, he is out there, running loose, to victimize yet another woman. It isn't just the attack on this woman, but this group also contributed to future attacks by this man.

Of course, when you consider the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in this protests, you understand why they want to keep the rape reports quiet. Why would women stand at a protest with a group of rapists and their protectors? It hardly feeds the supply of fresh victims….

Further, when one considers the treatment of women in the Obama Administration, and his ties to this group, it is hardly surprising. It is always the abusive cop that supports other men who abuse; Obama is just out there supporting his own kind, the kind that lack respect for women.

Other links on this issue include:

This article discusses an attempted rape that was thwarted in Ziccatti Park; protesters are being told not to report these incidents.

Occupy Baltimore also encourages women not to report rapes; a flyer is being circulated to discourage reporting it.

Rape brochure by Occupy Baltimore gives misleading information on reporting times

At Occupy Cleveland, a young woman was raped in one of the tents. She went to sleep in a tent with someone that the group assigned her to sleep with; the woman came forward with the rape after confiding in a teacher in school. It is only because she confided in a teacher that the Cleveland Police became involved. School aged protesters?

Occupy Dallas had an 14 year old girl raped.

  9. BTW: Under Marxism, the state owns the children, and the state owns the reproductive rights of the woman; women have no control over their reproductive and procreative activities. They belong to the state, and have an obligation to provide their reproductive services to the state to demonstrate loyalty. There is no "choice." Any woman out there who is pro-choice should get the heck out of there, because a socialist state will take away all of their choices, including the right to mate with those they choose. If you don't think so, ask the women in PRC or women who fled the USSR, or the women of North Korea.

Barbara, haven't you been told? They LOVE women. Really they do. That's why NOW is a leftist organization.

      Good posts, Barbara!
