The Daily Caller is reporting that Obama is ratcheting up the pressure on the matter of the “recess appointments” that were not during a recess. Now he’s asserting that his appointee to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Richard Cordray, will have full powers of his office despite the fact that the plain language of the law says otherwise. The 2010 law that established the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau includes a section that says many of the bureau’s new powers are to be held by the secretary of the Treasury “until the Director of the Bureau is confirmed by the Senate.” Until then, those powers are supposed to be retained by the Secretary of the Treasury. Those extra powers include the authority to write regulations for non-bankfirms, such as payday lenders.
Said Obama during his Friday visit to the CFPB:
“Now that Richard [Cordray] is your director, you can finally exercise the full power that this agency has been given to protect consumers under the law.”
The law requires that Obama’s nominee first be confirmed by the Senate to have all of these powers. Since no such confirmation has occurred, it’s clear that Obama is again flouting the law. This is an outrage, and every concerned citizen should be incensed, and they may be, but it seems few are concerned, because the mainstream media is not covering this story. Most Americans remain ignorant of this controversy. This is one instance in which conservatives and Tea Party folk should be getting the word out. It’s time to yell at your members of the House and the Senate, but perhaps more importantly, it’s time to tell your friends and family. This President is taking dictatorial powers, and our Congress sits on its hands as the United States is reduced to the status of a banana republic. The reason for Congressional inaction is simple: Your fellow Americans aren’t demanding it, I suspect mainly because they don’t know about it. That should be something you can change.
There seems to be some activity about a challenge to all this appointment stuff on other websites as well. But I still say, don't hold your breath.
Further evidence I see is you will get to vote for the puppet of your choice. 'Unconventionally' speaking.
I just don't get this at all. If this was Bush, the left would be having seizures. Dang hypocrits. And Obama sickens me. Just who the "H" does he think he is?? TY for the info Mark. I had not heard that verbage.
Start pressing for impeachment now!
And the beat goes on. What is there to say anymore?
DOWN WITH THE TYRANT!
There has always been tomorrow. In the morning it will be tomorrow.
mark,
this is a different but revelant comment i am wondering if anybody out knows consertave the big law firm that could start a class action suite aganist the EPA on behalf of american s for the damage to our country by forcing 50 or more coal plants to close this will kill many people that can't pay these huge utilitie bills with gas climbing towars $5.00 a galllon something has to be done o these vile evil people. just wondering and hopeing
Moonprinces…you addressed Mark, pardon my intrusion. I noticed your marquee (name…called something else on internet world, but anyway, fits with avatar I guess) so know you make comments from time to time.
Just an opinion…but no big law firm because no big $$$. Conservative or otherwise. Some you hear about on talk radio…have wide spread appeals for donations both on radio and internet. Takes money. Not all are willing to live on spam sandwiches and Biloxi Bacon. (Please excuse this "Units" memories…a close post depression baby, never suffered as Momma fried spam and Biloxi bacon just fine, could cast a throw net with the best of them to feed her kids. )
And for those who can't understand half of what I say…I don't suppose they will with this either. Suck it up…there'll be tomorrow. Nobody will destroy that permanently. At least 'til the Sun burns up and I read that's in about 5 billion years.
I don't know any law-firms to take on such cases, but I also know that written into most of these damaging laws is some sort of immunity from suit or challenge for the regulating body. I know there are such things in the Clean Water act, for instance. The only effective way to get rid of these things is to get an actual conservative as President, combined with a conservative Congress. Do that, and you might just get somewhere.
Yep, standing before the court. Gotta be damaged first. But like he says…first power bill "Unit" can't pay won't be standing but more like laid flat! :) Still standing so far. Looking forward to conservative tomorrow.
After the debates last night, all the questions left MSM "wife-beater" variety, I've had it. MSM "selects" GOP candidate for us??
Recess appointments have not come up in the MSM press or "news" anywhere! Who ever called this "Banana Republic" nailed it!
Starting tomorrow morning, I will become a PITA to all my elected officials.
There is a tomorrow, and we own it! Shame on us all for keeping quiet!! CALL, WRITE, YELL – let them hear from all of us! OFTEN!
