Non Compos Mentis: The Un-Candidate

Can he find his way?

Let’s be blunt. Let’s cut through the nonsense and simply state what is clear to every sound mind which has been judging the 2020 Presidential Campaign: Joe Biden is not fit to be President of the United States.  He’s diminished in mental capacity, and he’s sliding downward toward the lower bounds of legal competence.  I say this with no particular excitement, since this is a condition that may come to plague many of us who survive to advanced age.  It isn’t a pleasant thing.  It isn’t to be taken lightly, and for the sake of the Republic, it is a condition that must not be ignored.  We can all make fun of #DroolingJoe and talk about a man clearly into his dotage, but the truth is that we’re talking about a man who seeks the highest office in the land.  Does Biden even understand the seriousness any longer?  Does he comprehend the critical details that may be told him as he assesses national security issues?  Is he even capable, if ever he was, of recognizing and integrating the facts that will confront him should he obtain that high perch in our government?  I think the answer is clear, and I don’t think the whole body of the American people know the degree to which they’re being misled about his unfitness.  Joe Biden isn’t merely unfit to be President of the United States, but he’s unfit even to be a candidate for that office.  Others have aptly suggested that Joe Biden is being used as a Trojan Horse for the advancement of radical leftist policies, and while this is true, it’s only possible because Biden’s unfitness makes of him an empty vessel, easily used for nefarious purposes.  Joe Biden’s unfitness makes of him something worse: Biden is the Un-candidate.

Biden’s candidacy is defined mostly by what it isn’t.  In the main, the left tells you, “he isn’t Donald Trump.” His is a campaign of negation, not even of Donald Trump’s actual record, but merely the straw-man record erected by political flacks and consultants for Joe Biden to carry out a tightly-scripted series of unquestioned, unchallenged attacks.  Nobody is permitted to ask Biden any actual, unscripted, unrehearsed questions.  When he holds a press conference, his answers are already loaded on the teleprompter, meaning the questions are known, and the questioners cannot get a follow-up question because that would cause Biden to deviate from his script.  Without his script, Biden is a babbling, angry old man, confused and disoriented in a substantially disturbed way, and it’s quite evident that he’s incapable of higher-order thinking, particularly under pressure or in anything like a rapid-fire sort of circumstance.  A President already has a staff of people to juggle the myriad of balls that are inevitably flying through the air, but a candidate for President must juggle even more.  Biden isn’t capable of following a single ball on his own, as his inability even to stick to the carefully scripted teleprompter scroll clearly indicates.  He’s left to haplessly mouth phrases that still ring in his memory, as he struggles to wrestle free from his rapidly thickening mental fog. It’s not that he simply can’t get the words out, but that he has no words left to expel. What dribbles out instead, sometimes in fits and starts, is a garbled mush of phrases, piled one atop the next, like a babbling idiot who has lost the plot.

His handlers know this all too well. They’re trying to hold him together like a bag of soup, squeezed and shaped into the likeness of a presidential candidate, but always distorting wherever the bag is poorly supported.  He can’t maintain his shape, any more than you can sculpt liquid water, and what this means to his handlers is that they must constantly scramble to keep his increasingly muddled form into a moving image where the distortions are partially hidden by the motion.  He’s not capable of an actual debate against Donald Trump, or even against a well-schooled eighth-grader.  He’s unable. Simply put, he’s not up to the job.  Here’s a leftist critic, earlier in the primary season, with an assessment of a Biden interview:

That interview was back in April. Biden’s condition is worsening. This sample is from August 31st, when he become obviously confused reading the teleprompter, and completely loses the plot:

The mainstream media is doing all it can to hide this from you, but these episodes of confusion and mental disorientation have become increasingly common. It’s not just that we’re confronted with a man who has obvious mental decline – we all get there if we live long enough – but that we’re watching a man who can’t keep it together for short-term campaign events.  It’s actually sad, but my sympathies for Joe’s declining mental condition don’t permit me to ignore a couple of important things:

  • Joe Biden is not fit to be President, or Senator, or Dog Catcher. He’s not capable of campaigning for the job, never mind doing it.
  • The people around Joe, including family, MUST be aware of this – so why would they do this to Joe in his waning days?
  • The people in Joe’s entourage are clearly exploiting Joe. How miserable must it be to be used as political cannon fodder?
  • Since Joe is so clearly an emptying vessel, what will his handlers fill him with?

On that last question, we’re already seeing the answer. One approach to successfully, convincingly repeating audacious lies is to be oblivious to the fact that one is liying. Joe Biden is the perfect vessel for bald-faced lies, because he’s only being asked to repeat them with conviction. He may not be fully aware of the truth, one way or the other, at least not in the sense we would understand it.  In the last few days, he’s accused Trump of lying about the seriousness of COVID19 #WuFlu, despite the fact that Biden himself called Trump’s China travel ban in response to the pandemic an overreaction and evidence of xenophobia back in February. In fact, this is the trend of the entire Biden-Harris campaign in the weeks since the Republican convention. It had been clear to all observers that the DNC was a dud, but that the RNC was a spectacularly successful event. Since then, the lies have been non-stop, and the contrived media attacks have been coming in like waves pounding a beach like cyclonic storm surges.

This may be the biggest secret to the un-candidacy of Joe Biden: The whole of the media is coordinating an endless series of nonsensical, easily disproven lies, or “pseudo-events,” as Mark Levin has most recently begun to label them… but there is no there, there.  Not once.  Not even a little bit.  Even the Atlantic’s fraudulent editor is now admitting the “loser-sucker” story of last week may in fact be false, despite a whole holiday weekend of headlines blaring “Confirmed…” Biden’s candidacy is a vehicle for demeaning and attacking President Trump, but it is not a real candidacy advocating the policies of a would-be President. To the degree the Biden campaign even discusses policy, it’s always couched in criticisms of Trump and Republicans, but never offers a substantive advocacy of their own ideas.  All of it is a negation.  It’s not the advancement of ideas, but the plain nullification of them.  Worse, because the media is predominately sympathetic to Biden’s general political party, and because they see him as the sole available vehicle for advancing their position, they don’t talk about his actual policies, which are primarily warmed-over Bernie Sanders re-treads.

The Biden campaign is nothing but a series of negations and disguises.  First, they wish to conceal from your eyes the plain unfitness of Joe Biden.  Failing that, they wish to concoct failures of Donald Trump that really hadn’t been, and when all else fails, they simply lie about it.  The media is, in the main, almost indistinguishable from the Democrat party and the Biden campaign.  For all intents and purposes, they are one organ, functioning seamlessly from end to end.  Joe Biden clearly isn’t running this. He’s being run. Kamala Harris isn’t capable of this level of planning.  Who is running their campaign?  What dark forces stand behind Joe Biden?  Who provides the scripts for his teleprompters?  Who provides the permissible questions to so-called “reporters?”  This entire campaign is a vacuum.  There’s no competent candidate.  There’s no new ideas.  There’s no guiding philosophy, or even an espoused coherent governing intent.  There’s nothing.  It’s as though they’re play-acting their way through the campaign, knowing they cannot win, but stubbornly heaving dung at the wall hoping to make something stick.  The Biden campaign can’t raise a crowd more than a few dozen.  Hell, in some instances, more Trump supporters show up at Biden events than do actual Biden supporters.  There must be some other purpose, some other underlying motive.  What are they waiting for?  It’s as though they know Biden will not be their candidate, and what Biden is doing is to simply fill time until…

Somebody steps in to replace him?

I maintain that the Biden campaign is part of a larger subterfuge.  Whether it is eventually eclipsed by some other candidate who rides in to rescue the Democrats, time will tell, but there is something dreadfully wrong with the Biden campaign.  It’s empty.  Its only purpose seems to be to soften-up the opposition.  It’s like Patton’s phantom invasion force being assembled in England for a supposed attack against Calais, while all the time, the real force is being assembled elsewhere for an attack on Normandy.  It’s all piss and wind. To take Biden’s candidacy seriously may be to fall for the enemy’s feint.  It’s simply too vacuous.  If this is the entire sum and total of the Democrat’s candidacy, they are well and truly beaten.  Biden isn’t fit.  He isn’t competent.  He’s barely there at all. His is the un-candidacy: Of, by and for the incompetent.  What’s worse: they know it. Does Joe?
