In Time of Peace, Prepare for War

Thursday, July 29th, 2021

It’s only just begun

Recently, I was reflecting on my military service. In the 1980s, I served in the Army National Guard and in the US Army. On active duty, I served most of my time in Europe, specifically Germany. I was assigned to an Artillery unit, and in 1988, the unit was re-designated as part of a broader reorganization the Army was carrying out. This meant our unit’s name changed, and while our brigade remained the same, the change of the battalion’s designation necessitated a change to our Distinctive Unit Insignia(often called a Unit Crest) and our motto.  A more decorated unit was reactivated, and more historically significant unit colors were raised.  Previously, as an artillery unit goes, our motto had been pretty generic and not entirely inspirational: “We Support the Line.” That’s true of any artillery unit, and it’s not exactly the most motivational motto ever repeated. The new designation came with a new motto, and since this was the era of Ronald Reagan, with his increased tempo of training and readiness generally, I found the new motto much more suitable not only to our unit’s character, but also to the times in which we then lived: “In Time of Peace, Prepare for War.” That motto spoke to a philosophy, and that philosophy endures in my thinking, and has dominated much of my decision-making ever since.  In an era when the unthinkable had to be contemplated as a very real possibility, we went about the task of preparing for it as though it was an imminent eventuality, rather than some vaguely possible worst-case scenario. It’s about this mindset and all that goes along with it that I now wish you to consider. We can pray for peace. We should work for it, and we must conduct ourselves in peace, but we must now prepare as though the war we all hope never to fight is imminent and perhaps unavoidable.

Our nation is breaking down. The bonds of fraternity among the American people are being intentionally shattered.  The Biden administration is neither defending the nation against its enemies, nor providing any workable strategy for safeguarding the country.  Instead, the Biden administration is actively attacking the concepts of separation of powers, election integrity, free markets, national security and sovereignty, the administration of justice, and transparency in government.  They claim to act in the name of science, yet when the science confounds their agenda, they collude with their big-tech friends to abscond with scientific information, and to impound it such that it is never seen by Americans. Instead, what they practice is Scientism. They’ve wrecked our recently attained national energy independence, by direct regulatory acts of sabotage, and by failing to act to defend the national infrastructure from attack by foreign actors.  In every way you can conceive, the Biden administration is acting against the interests of the sovereignty and prosperity of the American republic.  They are actively perverting the justice system.  In Portland, actual rioters guilty of all but the most egregious acts are being turned loose without bail, while in the District of Columbia, people have been in jail for months for misdemeanor charges of “trespassing” for merely being at the Capitol on January 6th. As previously reported, we now know the US Government, through its National Institute of Health, actually funded so-called “Gain of Function” experimentation (read: weaponization) of Coronaviruses.  Dr. Anthony Fauci again vehemently denied the charge under questioning by Rand Paul, but it’s clear from just a few minutes of simple research that Fauci is a liar, and he’s been exposed for the monster he is.  The media continues to cover for him.

What all of this really means is that we’re under attack. It’s not an open attack by a single enemy or an axis of traditional foreign state actors. Instead, this is an attack by all the minions of the global Marxist front.  We’re not facing a single enemy operating in the open on which we can focus our efforts.  This enemy is in our country, as well as outside, and its members are among us, some more openly malevolent, while others take a slightly more covert, flanking approach, striking us from the rear, or from within our own ranks.  It is only a matter of time before all of this barely-suppressed hostility boils over into open fighting.  What will trigger that is unknown, but it must be repeated lest the timid among us shrink from the cause confronting us all: This is a war, and while we must strive to keep it within the bounds of peaceable conduct, it must also be recognized that it may well turn into a kinetic fight.  We gain nothing by turning this into an actual war, inasmuch as we do not control the implements of government, and we would not be operating under color of law.  This is why the enemy had to seize power, whatever it took, no matter how much cheating and fraud was necessary.  To legitimize their intended actions, they needed to be able to assert some form of legitimate authority.  Stealing the election, no matter how obvious, was the key to this claim.

This is why they are fighting like Hell to forestall, obstruct, and negate any audits of the vote. When all your claims to authority rest on the legitimacy of an election, anything that throws doubt on that legitimacy is a potentially lethal threat to your power. This is why Rudy Giuliani had to be taken out of play.  This is why I now believe January 6th went the way it did.  This is why Mike Pence, a man who I never trusted, became involved in the way he did on January 6th: When his letter went out, I immediately knew something ugly was about to occur.  Yes, the “insurrection” was another Washington DC setup, rigged in much the same way as the riot by alleged workers at the Rearden Steel mills in Atlas Shrugged. Donald Trump was refusing to play his appointed role in this show, so that to defame and discredit both he and his supporters was the most direct route to securing their coup.

Even now, Cyrus Vance Jr. is still cooking up a case in New York,  Don’t be surprised when on some morning in the near future, you awake to pictures and footage of Trump being taken into custody. The one sure way to put an end to all these audits is to jail the man who would rightfully be legitimized by them.  Don’t be surprised when none in the Republican Party come to his aid. They’re doing all they can to steer clear of all of this.  They won’t raise their voices against it in part because they don’t wish to be lumped-in for persecution alongside Trump, and more importantly, because they hope to fill the vacuum left when Democrats cart Trump away under color of law.

I raise all of these things under the umbrella of preparation because I still believe most of my fellow Americans have no idea what’s coming, or if they suspect as much, how real and how thorough this war against you has become. Do you really think it was Russian hackers who brought down the Colonial pipeline? Or was it a test to see how quickly and thoroughly travel within a day’s drive of Washington DC could be shut down? One of the things January 6th taught the UniParty thugs is that Trump can deliver a huge crowd to their doorstep on relatively short notice.  Estimates vary, of course, but some estimates suggest that more than one-million people descended on DC for that event, not including the BLM and Antifa provocateurs.  The vast majority of those people hailed from within a day’s drive of the Capitol.  What do you think would happen if audits began to reveal massive problems with the legitimacy of the 2020 elections(as is happening now in Arizona) while the highly politicized DOJ or Cyrus Vance or others decided to perp-walk Trump on some politicized charge? Do you think the people in DC would have reason to want to paralyze travel along the Eastern seaboard?

People have asked why Liz Cheney has such a hate on for Donald Trump. It’s easy to overlook some things, but remember in DC that everything comes down to connections and who’s doing whom. Her husband is Philip Perry, a former associate attorney general, general counsel for OMB, and general counsel for Homeland Security in the Bush years. This guy not only knows where some of the bodies are buried, but probably buried a few on his own.  More to the point, however, the law firm for which he now works, Latham and Watkins, has come under criticism for its contacts with and work for companies deeply connected to the Chinese Communist Party. That’s right, Cheney is likely a beneficiary of the CCP’s buy-off scams in DC, like so many in Washington DC, via a spouse.

All of this is about two things, boiled down, and you need to understand it: These people in Washington DC, the UniParty and the DeepStaters, have been running a non-stop scam on this country for decades.  Left in office much longer, Trump was going to begin uncovering it. Once the dominoes would have begun to fall, there would have been no stopping it or concealing it any longer.  This is the basis of the motives behind all of the NeverTrumpers, and most of the Democrats. These are deeply compromised people, all of them, most of them having engaged in some sort of treason-for-pay or other serious crimes for which they’re either being blackmailed or are subject to possible blackmail, along with prosecution for the hidden crimes. This is the motive.

What they’re willing to do about it is something else again. They are willing to tear down the country, burn it down to its foundations, and use explosives to wreck that too.  Think carefully about this: Imagine you’re the kind of treasonous vermin who would screw your entire country for a few pieces of silver, and the lowly moral character that evinces.  Now consider what, in that context, you’d be willing to do to prevent the disclosure of your crimes, your betrayals, and your treason.  What wouldn’t you burn to the ground in order to preserve what you’ve gained by your illicit activities, or even to simply conceal your crimes from the public?

These people are far worse than the dirtbags who were the object of the French revolutionaries’ collective ire.  If the people of France then thought the guillotine was a suitable remedy, it may well be the case that if you ever learn the full extent of the crimes of the DC UniParty, you may be demanding a giant meat-grinder.  They know it.  They’re willing to kill all of you to conceal it.  They’re willing to launch a war to hide it.  They’re willing to lose the war in order that we surrender and thereby yield our constitution.  Do you understand?  This war, the one that’s on slow-boil at the moment, is part of a strategy by which they will finally rid themselves of the deplorables who built the country and provided them their high offices.  Your usefulness to them is now over.  Now, it’s all about controlling you and protecting themselves.  They see your elimination as the best way to protect themselves.  They’re importing your replacements so they can maintain the illusion of “democracy” even now.  They’re willing to live with CCP masters in the short-term, because they’re all the same kind of monsters.  All of them.

They will pit Americans against Americans, vaccinated against unvaccinated, masked against unmasked, criminal against innocent, child against parent, and public official against the public.  They don’t care how much of the country burns.  They’re willing to burn it all to the ground to conceal their rampant profiteering off their offices, their treasons against the whole of the people, and whatever else it may take so that they don’t lose power, wealth, control, and especially so that they never face justice.

Do you really think you can just “vote them out?” You’ve tried that, many times, and in many movements. It’s never ultimately worked, but they’ve always managed to work you.  It’s true that most of the street agitators are just useful idiots, and knowing that is important, but it’s also not relevant to your preparations for the war they’re already waging against you.  You must begin to put yourself in a different mindset, in which the preservation of your life and the lives of your loved-ones are your primary operative consideration.  There is no chance we come back from this as a country if these people are permitted to succeed.  Again, they want you dead and buried.  You are the object of this war.

Take stock of food-stuff, and emergency supplies.  Make contact with your neighbors and discover what they’re doing to prepare.  Urge them to prepare. Remember, when the fecal matter hits the fan, every person who is prepared is one fewer person you’ll need to fend off when they run out of resources.  Be prepared to fend them off, too.

At the moment, you have precious little time, as they prepare to take their war against us to the next step. I expect them to cut off communications among us at some point.  I expect them to try to prevent us from talking among ourselves, so that they can control all information.  That’s what’s happened in Cuba, and in the black-out of information and news, these monsters always thrive. Expect all of the mainstream media to be vicious propaganda.  Expect power outages disguised as cyber-attacks.  Expect fuel shortages.  Expect mass starvation.  Expect all the Hell you can imagine in a dystopian world the sort of which they need.  Don’t drive panic.  Instill confidence through preparedness.  Time is short, patriots.

While we have still a moment of relative peace, let us make preparations for war, that if war comes, we are able to prevail. The only alternative is unpreparedness, and with it, death.  Do not yield your life and your life’s works so easily. Do not lose it all within sight of victory.  Prepare to fight to save all you love.  You will need resolve most of all.  Go forth in pursuit of peace, but know that along that path almost certainly lies war.

The Enemy: We the People

The New Enemy: We the People

I’ve been rattling around this old world for more than one-half century. I’ve seen a lot of despicable things, and I’ve seen the media make them more despicable by their dishonest coverage. I’ve seen cabals and plots and a number of conspiracies, but I’ve never seen anything even approaching the diabolical nature of this coup d’etat against Donald Trump, the Constitution of the United States, and We, the People who had formed it.  This is one for the record-books, and it very well may succeed, because the conspirators have succeeded in doing something I knew was theoretically possible, but never expected anybody to actually undertake.  The conspirators in this plot are not only real, and not merely diabolical, but they are also smart and ruthless.  They are setting-up the most dangerous sort of trap you could imagine, and they’re going to use our constitution to achieve it.  Ladies and gentlemen, it is much worse than they’re letting on.  It’s much bigger than they’re portraying.  Both side are down-playing it as they race to that moment in which they will strike, and to whomever goes the initiative, so too will the victory belong.  The left has finally engineered their dream scenario, in which they will claim to be the patriots and the defenders of the Republic, while we, the people, are denounced and ultimately vanquished as the enemy of the United States of America.

My long-time readers will know that I’m serious, and that I’m about to make a point to which attention must be paid, but new readers may be recoiling from my thesis because it seems so…”extreme.” The climax of any scenario may seem to be extreme, particularly for those who hadn’t expected it. The finality of death may seem extreme to those who had never contemplated it.  The truth is that we now live in a time of extremes, and the question that may well confront us is whether we have the courage to face them, and in proximity to them, rise to match them.

Here’s the basic plot: Democrats and their media shield are now proceeding with their plot to overthrow the United States government in the person of Donald J. Trump. He is the duly elected president of the United States, and since his election, they have been trying to undermine and overthrow him.  The reasons are many and varied, because for the rank-and-file opponents, it is the fact of his continuance in that office against which they rebel, exerting his policy preferences on the nation, to the chagrin and disgruntlement of the leftist hordes.  For mid-level leftists, in the political establishment and the press, it is the fact that he makes bare the edifice of lies about the necessity of the whole political machinery.  He won with a fraction of the expenditures and only a tiny fraction of the number of apparatchiks customary to a modern presidential campaign.  In truth, he represents a revolution against them. For the upper-crust leftists, Trump represents another type of existential threat, made of their criminal liabilities.  This upper-crust has had its crimes white-washed, concealed, or pardoned in one fashion or another.  They’ve had their prosecutions declined, and they’ve had all their legal sins washed away, or would have, if only he hadn’t been elected.  Now, their crimes for greed and their crimes for family are too close to exposure, and worst of all, their crimes against humanity and their treason, little and large, are far too close to discovery.  For some of them, discovery would mean the effective loss of their entire lives’ toil in acquisition of ill-gotten wealth. For others, it might mean an actual loss of life, as some might even face the gallows for their crimes.

If any larger portion of this be true, then it is all the motive any collection of philosophical fellow-travelers and partners-in-crime would ever need to carry out such a plot. You can pretend to yourself that this is all too big, or that it couldn’t possibly be, but ask yourself this: If you and your spouse are now worth one-hundred-million dollars so long as the totality of your corruption can be kept secret, and your treason can be buried sufficiently, what wouldn’t you do? To what lengths wouldn’t you go? To what depths of depravity wouldn’t you descend? Which arms wouldn’t you twist?  Which debts wouldn’t you call? Very quickly, one realizes that an environment comprised of such people would shortly resemble an ecology of gangsters, every bit as lethal as any mafia the world has known.

Now you understand the motives, but now we must understand the methodology. The methodology of the left has ever been to accuse others of what it is they’ve done, or are doing. It’s a methodology that serves them well because they are in collusion with the media and the so-called “Deep-State.” In fact, it’s fair to consider them together as one contiguous, unified organism. They coordinate across levels, within levels, and across national or organizational boundaries.  They’re in everything, everywhere.  As we’ve seen, they’re in Congress, but they’re in the White House. They’re in the FBI, but they’re in NGOs(Non-Governmental Organizations.) They’re in the media, and they’re in the private sector. What binds them all together? Can you guess? Yes, it’s guilt. People like Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell trade on that guilt. Strange, isn’t it? Epstein died, and almost all coverage of him has disappeared, and with it, all coverage of the guilty elites over whom he held sway, and their wrong-doings, by which he held such power.

Do you think Epstein was the only one of his kind? How many of you have even heard of the NXIVM sex-slavery cult? It was used at least in part by extortionists as a manner of extracting control, money and power over the people over which it held influence. How can it be that a thing like this exists and was prosecuted, but the bulk of Americans have never heard of it?  Don’t “google” it though. Try duckduckgo.com instead.

How can one get rid of a President like Donald J. Trump? One would have to find him guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors.” In the seemingly unlikely event that one can’t find any legitimate grounds for impeachment and removal, one must fabricate some. This was the basis for the whole “Russia” hoax, and it has been behind every attempt to unseat him.  In the case of this latest “Ukraine” scandal, the best primer on it may come from the unlikely source, Glenn Beck. It’s not that Beck hasn’t uncovered some interesting stories over the years, but to say that most people don’t consider him hard news so much as infotainment. Fair or not, that’s how most view him, but his coverage on the Ukraine story is exhaustive and quite detailed.

Below is a short version, but on his program on BlazeTV, you can view the full version of his explanation of the Ukraine scandal. Here, in a detailed explanation of the facts, Beck lays out a fuller picture of the scandal about which you’ve only heard but a little:

I want you to notice that this was published by Beck on the 3rd of October. I am willing to bet that almost none of you had heard of former Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch prior to the last couple of days, but she is a key figure in Beck’s presentation of more than a week ago.  On Friday the 11th, she was testifying before Adam Schiff’s rogue committee.  Watch Beck’s presentation, and then do the math. Beck doesn’t here guess with any specificity what might have happened to the seven billion missing dollars, but that doesn’t stop us from guessing, does it?  Clinton Foundation?  Clinton Global Initiative?  Some portion absorbed by oligarchs in payment for the money-laundering? There’s no way to say with any certainty, at this moment, but it’s certainly worth all the trouble of ditching Donald Trump.

Now Congress is carrying out a coup d’etat disguised as an impeachment.  They’re going to get rid of Trump, and you’re going to witness histrionics in the United States Senate by Republicans. They’re going to deliver the coup de grâce to Donald J. Trump. They’re going to betray the constitution of the United States, and at present, their leader is none other than Trump nemesis Willard “Mitt” Romney. He and two dozen other compromised Republican senators are going to strike the fatal blow to the Trump presidency.  At that point, you will have a choice, and that choice will come down to this:

You will either except this false procedure, and watch as the American Republic is killed in fact while a sad charade goes on ever after, or you will take up arms to stop it.

That’s your choice. The left has placed you in the position that to support the truth, and to support what is right, you will have to voluntarily choose to fulfill the role of the revolutionary.  They will portray you as the instigators of the coup d’etat.  Once they arrive at this point, their overthrow will have succeeded. Checkmate.

I’m not certain anybody on the side of the genuine patriots understand this yet.  I’m not certain everybody in Trump-land quite perceives this.  I believe what we are about to witness is either a rebirth of the genuine republic, or its final overthrow. Should you dare to rise against it, you will be portrayed as the traitors. You will face the gallows. Do you now see?  Never in American history will there have been a greater divergence of the “spirit of the law” from the letter of the law.

We are now in a race, and indeed, we have been all this time since Trump’s election. I don’t know how many of the parties involved knew they were in a race. I don’t know if it matters whether they knew. If Nancy Pelosi succeeds in carrying out her impeachment before the forces seeking actual justice can succeed in so doing, this will be the end of the United States.  I don’t know if Q is/was real or not, but I can tell you that whomever is Qanon, they knew this is a race.  Whether intended to stall, or to cover, I cannot possibly know, and only time will tell, but here’s where we stand: Trump’s forces are in a deadly race with the Deep State.  Time is short now, and I think we will be lucky to go into the new year as we entered the current one. Perhaps fittingly, the year 2020 will provide clarity.  Unfortunately, the picture we will see may be a terrible vision and a future in which justice has been thwarted.  You know what may be coming, my long-time readers, because you’re studious and because you know history. It’s up to you to prepare the rest of our population who may have no clue.  To defend the Republic, and to protect its legitimacy, oddly, patriots may need to risk being labeled rebels – to be called “enemies of the state” by the very traitors who now plot against our President, our republic, and indeed, the whole body of our people.  The framers of our constitution, and the founders of our nation knew this danger all too well, but their singularly most important historical virtue may be that they risked all for love of country. All I can say is that if President Trump calls for aid, patriots must be prepared to move.

Do as you will, but for my part, I will answer the call.

Accuracy Begins Here

I make no bones about the fact that I believe in the full exercise of the Second Amendment, and while I realize there are those who will consider my views “extreme,” or some such thing, it’s in largest measure because they desire the approval of a cooing media. They’ve been conditioned to seek the approval of the popular culture and media, hoping to be labeled as “reasonable.”  I’ve never looked for validation among statists.  More, while they try to pretend that AR-15s have no use in self/home defense, the evidence strongly suggests otherwise, and more evidence came in on Wednesday. This being the case, I thought I’d take this opportunity to talk about one of the things I’ve always enjoyed, from the pellet rifles of youth, to when I was a young man in the Army, or in all the years since: Marksmanship.  The US Army taught me to be a fairly good shot, and perhaps owing to the eagle-eyed vision of my youth, (which seems to persist at distances, despite the arms-length affects of presbyopia in middle age,) I’ve always enjoyed being able to get the most out of any given rifle type.  A couple of years ago, I decided to build a custom AR-15.  I won’t bother you with the entire parts-list, but what I do wish to talk about is what I consider the heart of any such rifle: The barrel.  Bearing in mind that my experience with this type of firearm is extensive, having first handled an M16 at a tender seventeen years of age, I believe my opinion is informed by sufficient experience to offer some value to readers.  In this instance, I want to talk about barrels in general, but in particular, I wish to discuss a particular brand of barrel that has proven to me to be superior to others. The offerings of Wilson Combat seem to be as good a barrel as can be had for the money, and then some.  As I recently noted, speaking to another self-defense enthusiast on the subject, I’ve spent more for a barrel but I’ve never gotten more out of one.

The particulars of the barrel I selected were these:

  • 18″ Length
  • Chambered in .223 Wylde
  • Rifle Length Gas System
  • Bull barrel profile
  • .920″ diameter at gas seat(this has been superseded subsequently with a .875″ diameter gas seat.)
  • 5/8″-24 threaded muzzle(this has been superseded subsequently with 1/2″-28 threading.)
  • 1:8 RH twist
  • 416R Stainless Steel
  • Straight Flutes
  • Weight 42 ounces(Slightly lower in latest version)
  • M4 Style feed ramps

It’s a heavier profile, but because at my age, I’m not going to be running, jumping and dodging much. If I must, the extra weight won’t be nearly the problem my knees will be. On the other hand, I always consider weight a negative because almost no fight is from a purely fixed position.  I selected the .223 Wylde chambering because it is a good compromise between 5.56 and .223.  It can fire both cartridges safely, approaching the maximum potential of both.  The 18″ length was chosen because it is easier to wield if one must move in somewhat confined spaces, like an interior hallway, or through doorways.  I prefer the full(rifle) length gas system because it’s going to provide the best pressure and therefore muzzle velocity at the selected barrel length.  1:8RH twist seems to stabilize the 62gr rounds I prefer in most instances very well.  The shallow fluting lightens the load a bit from what it might otherwise be, and given the larger surface area, should augment cooling. The heavy profile should make for as rigid a barrel as you’re going to reasonably place in this particular performance envelope.  416R stainless is extremely resistant to corrosion.

Of course, when we talk about barrels, it’s hard to ignore the parts to which barrels attach, or which attach to or surround them.  In this case, a very lightweight, slim, free-float rail of 13″ length was used.  The upper receiver is standard DPMS forged 7075(as is the lower.)  The muzzle brake is a custom unit manufactured to my specifications by Larry Sperlich, of Pasco, WA. His custom brakes are exceedingly effective, and since he generally manufactures them from 303 stainless, like the barrel, they resist corrosion very well. (Larry will work with you to create the brake you desire. He does phenomenal work, so you can consider this an unqualified recommendation of his brakes. You can contact him via Ebay as seller Drhard1972.)  You’ll enjoy his work. These brakes are made from solid stainless round stock, so they can be on the heavy side, but then again, you’re quickly repaid for the extra ounces with recoil reduction and excellent muzzle control augmentation. Again, it’s a little extra weight that I’m happy to bear given the return.

Where the rubber meets the road when considering any barrel comes down to its inherent effects on the rifle’s accuracy.  This is best measured from a bench rest, and after zeroing the sights at a standard 25m(83 feet) with a standard type US Army zero target, it was interesting to note that the three-round group appeared as a single hole on the paper.  After relocating to a 100 yard lane, shooting a variety of ammo just to get a feel for accuracy, I shot the following brands/type/weights:

  • PMC Bronze .223 55gr FMJ
  • Silver Bear .223 62gr HP
  • Silver Bear .223 55gr FMJ
  • Federal Lake City 5.56 55gr FMJ (XM193BK)
  • TulAmmo .223 75gr HP
  • Wolf .223 62gr FMJ

I knew my first shots would leave a lot of copper on the sharp edges of the new lands in my spiffy new barrel, but I wanted to be “gentle” on it.  All of the zeroing was carried out with the PMC Bronze because it’s a good, average round, serving as a decent baseline for comparison.  In short, it’s neither the best nor the worst, but it does have a brass case, and their manufacturing process tends to lend itself to a basic level of consistency.  As expected, this ammunition provided for MOA groupings at 100 yards.  Occasionally, I’d have a “flyer” that either owed to some inconsistency on my part(maybe a jerk here or there when I’d break steady-hold discipline for some reason) or perhaps to ammunition variability.  In all, twenty rounds of the PMC at 100 yards yielded decent results.  I then moved on to the Silver Bear 55gr. This provided poorer results. I found that roughly 1-1/2 MOA was the best I could consistently obtain. The wind was calm/negligible on the day of testing.

The Wolf was slightly better than the 55gr Silver Bear, perhaps 1-1/4 MOA, while the TulAmmo 75gr managed to perform on par with the 62gr Silver Bear, with which I was able to manage a consistent 1 MOA at the 100 yard distance. The Lake City 55gr did roughly as well as the PMC, perhaps a little better, with one group managing 3/4 MOA.  (Conveniently, I was using one box of ammunition per sheet, and due to few other shooters on the range, I was using the target in my lane plus the one adjacent to my left that was unoccupied.  This permitted me to put up two sheets per trip downrange, and test two ammo types at a time. For context, as I was shooting, there was only one other shooter on the twelve available 100 yard rifle lanes, so no problems about range courtesy.)  To date, I’ve tried several other brands of ammunition, but my best results have been with the 55gr bullet varieties, particularly the XM193BK types. I will say that the TulAmmo 75gr ammo shoots reasonably well, and that the 1:8 twist rate of this barrel seems to stabilize the heavy round much better than I expected.  On one particular day of shooting recently, I managed 1/2-3/4 MOA on four consecutive groups shooting the Federal Lake City 5.56 55gr. FMJ ammo.

One of the downfalls of the 5.56/.223 caliber to me is the rapidly increasing instability with distance traveled, particularly in heavier rounds. Consistently, the worst performance I receive is with so-called “Penetrator” 62 grain green-tip varieties, but I think that owes to variability in the symmetry of the placement of the steel core within the bullets.  For standard bullet types, at 200 yards, the first signs of instability are already showing, and at 300 yards, if you hadn’t noticed it beforehand, you will certainly find that it becomes more inconsistent, and this owes to the inherent instability of the round.  All of this has made me very curious about a new caliber that has arrived on the scene, which is .224 Valkyrie.  The idea is to provide a rounds of greater weight than .223/5.56 and to be able to carry supersonic velocity beyond 1000 yards.  So far, reports from the field on this particular round are promising.  It’s been out for around two years, and in that time, it’s gained quite a following.  It’s not uncommon to hear of consistent performance at 1000 yards.  I will be investigating that caliber soon enough, and I was heartened to learn that Wilson Combat now offers several barrels in that caliber.

It’s useful to note that while Wilson Combat no longer offers the exact barrel I purchased, their replacement in their lineup that has several potential advantages over the one I own. It is identical to mine in all but the following ways:

  • 1/2″-28 muzzle threads
  • .875″ gas seat
  • Slightly lighter at just about 40 ounces

Obviously, at the slightly smaller diameter forward of the gas block shoulder, it’s also going to be slightly lighter.  Additionally, because they now manufacture this with the 1/2″-28 threads, there are many more muzzle brake/flash hider options for the .223/5.56 caliber rounds.  One of the things that drove me to find a custom manufacturer of muzzle brakes had been the difficulty in finding a brake with the 5/8″-24 threads and bored for the smaller caliber.  This means you’ll have many more options for muzzle devices, although I maintain that you’d be hard-pressed to beat the performance and price of Larry’s.  I now buy all of my muzzle brakes from him. His work is just that good.

I’ve fired a large number of .223/5.56 rifles over my lifetime.  It’s a good round within its proper performance envelope, which for most people with average to good skills is going to mean it will be effective out to 300-350 meters, although it can be pressed beyond that.  What makes the round particularly effective, apart from good basic marksmanship, is a good barrel and a decent trigger.  There are many drop-in triggers available, and I prefer a single stage trigger in the 3.5-4.0 lbs breaking force.  If your barrel is good, and your fundamentals are sound, a decent trigger with a low-weight pull will enhance your accuracy.  What I can also tell you is that you will hear all sorts of bragging about the accuracy of various rifles, barrels, shooters, and so on.  The truth is that any barrel in the .223/5.56 caliber that will consistently shoot 1 MOA or better at 100 yards, and 200 yards, is an excellent barrel.  If it will do so in hot and cold conditions, in cloud and shine, with a variety of ammunition, it’s a particularly excellent barrel. I have no reservations about recommending the Wilson Combat barrel in .223 Wylde, and based on the clear attention to detail in all their products, I suspect you’ll find similar results.

Here’s the latest variant of the barrel in question, with the three improvements mentioned above”

They also have a 20″ variant of the same basic barrel, that ought to provide comparable performance, with a touch more muzzle energy:

It’s also useful to note that at distances under 400 meters, unless I’m specifically setting up a scope, I prefer Troy folding iron sights.  I generally substitute a KNS precision front sight post (.034) for better precision on my iron sights, or as I commonly do, I turn down a standard front sight post to 0.40. Here’s the parts list:

For what it’s worth, my philosophy of use with this barrel is on a defensive weapon used where mobility is limited, and maneuverability may be hampered.  Alternatively, a young and nimble, physically fit shooter should not suffer any significant mobility penalty, and may not mind the added weight given the enhanced accuracy over more run-of-the-mill AR-style barrels. It’s a handsome barrel, and can be coated with all the usual flavors of Duracoat and Cerakote, although I’d advise slightly roughing the surface with some 400 or higher grit sandpaper. In my case, I used Tactical Black by Duracoat, but I masked off the fluting for a two-tone appearance.

To date, the barrel has not failed to deliver extraordinary accuracy, and I can’t say enough about it. It will certainly lead me to try out this offering by Wilson Combat:

In .224 Valkyrie, I’ll be looking at longer-range accuracy.  I view it as a potential lightweight precision long-range rifle.  It utilizes the same upper and lower receivers, the same bolt carrier group, though with a 6.8 SPC bolt, and followers for 6.8 SPC in the otherwise stock AR-style magazine.  Essentially, for a caliber change, you need only barrel, bolt, and magazine followers.  The ballistic efficiency of the caliber is excellent, and I’m anxious to give it a try. Key to the Valkyrie’s long range performance is the extraordinarily high ballistic efficiency that permits the round to remain supersonic as far as 1300 meters.  That’s a significant advantage over cartridges like 6.5 Grendel, that is good for 750-800 yard in supersonic flight.  Another key is a barrel in 1:6.5 or 1:7 twist to stabilize the round.

Like anything else in the free market, as more shooters adopt the .224 Valkyrie cartridge, the cost of ammunition is likely to come down, right now averaging between $0.50 and $0.70 per round, although that’s based on the 75gr FMJ Federal that it most widely produced and available. I recently found a sale on this ammunition for as low as $0.42 per round, so it is coming slowly down, at least in the entry bullet weight. As you step up to the higher bullet weights, prices go up as well. One of the problems with a new cartridge is that it takes time for the round to gain broad acceptance(if it ever does,) and then it takes time for manufacturers to begin to make it in sufficient amounts to bring the equilibrium price down to a more bearable level.  The thing about this round is that equipped with a 6.8 SPC follower, a standard AR-15 magazine can happily accommodate 25-27 rounds in the same space 30 rounds of .223/5.56 will occupy.  Unlike some other rounds squeezed into the AR platform, you don’t lose much in capacity by adopting Valkyrie, but you will apparently gain much in accuracy at middle to longer range.

What I can say in an unqualified manner is that I have been extraordinarily pleased with the Wilson Combat barrel. One of my favorite drills with the rifle involves timed circuits of my 5-target paper. Essentially, I start at top-left, and go clockwise, ending at the center. Basically, from the first shot, I get three seconds to acquire and engage each of the four targets. What I’m really interested in during this drill is that I will generally start at the top-left, and continue to shoot until 20 rounds are expended. What I’m hoping to obtain is accurate, consistent engagement of targets. At 100 yards, I get three seconds per shot, but at 200 yards, I give myself 4 seconds per shot.  I also vary the pattern, going from top-left to bottom-right to top-right to center to bottom-left.  This sort of drill gets you accustomed to acquiring and engaging targets under time pressure.  It also means if you have a malfunction, you need to clear it and move on in timely fashion. Fortunately, with this rifle, I’ve yet to suffer any malfunctions, but practicing for them is still important.  This can be a lot of fun, and it’s a good way to find out how you’re managing your steady-hold discipline.  One of the things you’ll learn, if unaccustomed to the AR platform in general and the .223/5.56 NATO round in particular is that the zeroing procedure creates a rifle that will shoot high at 100m, 150m, 200m, and 250m, while being bang-on at 50m and 300m.  This is because the zeroing procedure developed by the US Army relies on the ballistics of the round, inasmuch as the round’s flight between the muzzle and 300m is represented by an arc. On the M16A1, the rifle I grew up with, the use of the rear dual aperture sight, flipping up and down between long and short range, is the method for maintaining the appropriate sight picture and corresponding strike of the bullet.

For those unfamiliar with the Army’s zero procedure for an M16, it’s done using a reduced-size silhouette target printed on a grid.  The target is placed at 25m(roughly 83 feet,) and the idea is that by using the iron sights, you shoot three-round groups and adjust the sights to move the strike of the bullets to the center of the target, while using the long range(smaller) aperature.  What this creates is a condition in which the arc of the bullet’s path will cross the line of sight to a 300m target at approximately 25m and again at 300m. I prefer to equip any AR-15 with folding back-up iron sights, usually Troy Industries’ offerings, before I mount any optic.  My notion is that iron sights are really my primary, and that any optic I’m using is something I consider a temporary “upgrade” the use of which may not be possible under some less than optimal circumstance.  I therefore always zero my AR builds with iron sights, and go through several cycles of folding and unfolding the sights to verify a return to zero.  Troy’s sights are pretty solid units, so I don’t sweat the return-to-zero so much, but it’s always good to check/test.  What I frequently customize on the Troy sights is the front sight post.  I nearly always replace the front post with a KNS Precision sight in .034 size, or I simply turn down the stock front sight post using a drill and a small flat file, as I did when I was a soldier.  I have always found that the smaller I make the post, the more accurate my shooting becomes. As was [re-]popularized by Mel Gibson’s character in The Patriot, the reliable marksman’s adage has ever been: “Aim small, miss small.” At any distance beyond 300m, the standard AR front sight post will begin to obscure a standard silhouette target, and while I’d be unlikely to be taking too many shots at more than 300m, it’s worth the extra stretch in effective range.  I find it also gives me a better way to gauge distance to a target.

Of course, with the original M16, M16A1, and M16A2, the length of the barrel was 20 inches, which has a definite effect on range, muzzle velocity/energy, and accuracy.  I always considered it foolish when the Army decided to downsize the M16 series into the M4 series, with the shorter 16 inch barrel, but I understood the rationale: They knew that very few soldiers would be taking shots at enemies 300m distant on the modern battlefield, but would instead face combat at distances between 25-200m much more frequently.  The shorter barrel makes for a lighter burden, and is more compact for confined spaces of corridors, alleys, hallways, and other more urban-oriented environments.  Also, as a practical matter, if one finds oneself needing to defend one’s convoy from the cab of a moving vehicle, the longer M16 would be far more unwieldy.

That’s one of the reasons I like the 18 inch barrels offered by Wilson Combat: They retain most of the ballistic advantages of the longer barrels, but they are much more easily maneuvered in tighter spaces.  That said, I still prefer the longer barrel of the standard rifle length.  Perhaps only because that is what I became accustomed to in youth, or perhaps because of my long reach, I find I am very comfortable with it. It helps that I’m a rather taller person, so that a rifle like the standard M16 already seems somewhat compact to me, particularly measured against the M14s and M1s of the generations I followed into uniform.

One of the best aspects about modern firearms is the ability to customize, particularly with the AR platform.  What makes the AR-15 platform so attractive to so many is that it’s an easy weapon system to master.  It’s relatively light and compact, and there is an almost endless array of parts to tailor your AR to your particular uses and tastes.  Myself, I’m willing to sacrifice a little lightness in favor of a better, somewhat heavier barrel, because I know it will pay accuracy dividends, and besides, one can nowadays save weight in other areas, perhaps using exotic, carbon-fiber hand-guards.  My point to you is that it’s possible to make your AR-15 uniquely your own, but for me, beginning with a really well-made barrel is essential, and the offerings by Wilson Combat are fantastic.

A large number of people buy(or build) expensive, fancy, high-class firearms, but seldom take them out to shoot. I realize it can be difficult, especially depending on where you live and what the legal environment looks like, but I must say that buying or building a nice rifle, followed by simply throwing it in the gun-safe, only to pull it out to admire every now and again isn’t a very good way to attain or maintain proficiency. Shooting skills are perishable.  Learning and mastering the battery of arms for a given firearm is also easily forgotten, and muscle memory doesn’t last indefinitely.  My point to readers is that in this increasingly uncertain world, don’t let your skills go without exercise.  If you’re going to build an AR-15 type, or intend to buy one with an eye toward customization, start with a good barrel. From my decades of experience, where your hardware is concerned, the barrel is the single most influential piece of hardware in your accuracy puzzle.

Editor’s Note: I NEVER receive any benefit for reviews of products. I don’t take any, and never would. The products endorsed in this article were purchased for my use, by me for my use, and those manufacturers had no input in what I’ve said about them here. Period.

Mourning for America

Mourning for America

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted regularly, and I’d like to thank my loyal readers who check in occasionally. I’ve been busy at the paying job, and busy on the farm. That probably explains much of my absence, but the truth is that there is more to it than that. I’m like many other American conservatives who look around and wonder where their country has gone.  It’s dying. I can’t pretend that I feel positive about anything.  Watching the Trump administration struggle against the legions of fifth-column deep-staters secreted within the administration is simply torture.  At this rate, even if President Trump manages to win re-election, it seems as though it would avail us little more than a postponement.  The thing I had always feared is now demonstrably true: The left has so thoroughly embedded their sick ideology in all parts of America that we are watching out own children become the tools of our destruction.  Look at Google, a company I now consider to be a criminally seditious enterprise, and realize that for at least half a generation, they’ve been the source of such “knowledge” your school-aged children have been fed.  Your country is being re-populated with people who are either ambivalent toward American culture and the ideology that built the country, or in too many cases, overtly hostile to this nation and all the principles that had made it the envy of the world.  Ladies and gentlemen, I am convinced no longer of a future for the great republic to which I had swore an oath.  It’s dying, and if it goes but a few steps further, what we will experience is the final mourning for America.  I’m doing my mourning now, while there is time to remember the true value of that for which we must yet fight.

The left doesn’t care if they will burn it all down. Destruction doesn’t bother them, and in fact, it is their singular goal.  You and I have worked our whole lives long to build and create; to invent and innovate; to repair and renew the American dream and the American nation.  They denounce it all.  Their university professors are monstrous villains left over from the turmoil of the 1960s.  In the 1970s, they plotted against America(must watch!).  They plotted its diminution and demolition.  The whole time since, most of us went back to sleep thinking they had been repelled.  That was our version of falling for the notion that the devil didn’t exist.  They’ve never stopped.  They never paused.   While we went back to living our lives, they took over most aspects of the culture and the economy.  They took over education from stem to stern.  They own the media and big tech.  They own the establishment of BOTH PARTIES in Washington DC.  If you don’t think so, maybe you should let Paul Ryan tell you. He’s as indirect as ever, but the truth is revealed by his contempt. More, it was recently revealed what he thought of Trump, and in truth, Trump supporters, but Donald Trump had his own thoughts on the matter.

The throngs of illegal hordes at our borders are the foot soldiers for their overthrow of our nation.  Do you understand?  They’re supplanting us by migration and occupation.  They’re stealing our country and our culture.  We have at the moment the only politician who has tried to stop this overthrow of the American Republic, from his seat behind the Resolute Desk.  It’s fair to say that every President since at least January 1989 has been engaged in or committed to this overthrow.  Reagan was tricked into it with the 1986 amnesty deal.  All of this time, and the wreckage of our culture goes on unabated.

Working couples work their fingers to the bone, limit their procreation for the simple sake of economics, while all the takers live on the takings from their labors, raising an army of opponents to their own existence. It’s everywhere.  The welfare state, the Immigration and Naturalization (Hart-Celler)Act of 1965 has delivered the fruits it had been intended to bear: The American people and their distinct American culture are being systematically replaced by foreign nationals who no longer bother themselves about assimilation, and barely concern themselves with legality.  Of course they don’t follow our laws.  They’re here to destroy them.  They’re here to destroy your world. Think of Saruman’s legion of Orcs in the Two Towers. They were brought to the walls of Helms Deep not to subjugate a people into slavery, but to erase them from existence.  In this plot, however, many of these foot soldiers don’t even know that’s the purpose for which they’ve been assembled. Most of their individual motives are natural enough, but it is the motives of their masters with which we must concern ourselves.

Look around! President Donald Trump tried.  He did.  I don’t know that he or anybody else has the capacity to defeat them.  The so-called “deep state” is still trying to unseat him! They’re still trying to undermine him at every turn.  I know that like me, many of you undergo a daily emotional bender, like a drunk careening emotionally from curb to curb, between a glimmer of hope here or there as he fights back to the betrayals that come one right after the next, threatening to topple his administration.  We have federal judges engaged in this treason.  We have officers of our law enforcement and intelligence agencies in on the plot.  We’ve even had alleged “allies” who attempted to assist the coup d’etat while they carry out similar atrocities against their own citizens.  All of Western civilization is under attack, and like you, I go from despair to fury, while my wife calls our member of Congress and our two Senators daily.  I write emails.  I contribute to every cause I think will help.  Even there, we are too often betrayed.  The NRA is dead, for instance, and they will never get another dime from me, not even accidentally.  Instead, I am a member of and send extra money to GOA, and while I’m not Jewish, I am now a member of JPFO.  Wherever I can, I support groups that are real advocates of the right to keep and bear arms.  The NRA is to gun rights as Paul Ryan is to conservatism.  Still, many Americans contribute to the NRA out of habit rather than due to their institutional efficacy.

As I’ve explained elsewhere, when it comes to social media, I’m moving away from the biased, tired, burdensome platforms like Facebook and Twitter to better platforms like Parler and Gab and Minds. Even now, the tyrants at Apple are trying to squelch some of these new platforms by denying them access to their app store.

Only occasionally, we see glimmers of hope, even if it’s a simple display of truth in the face of pure idiocy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol2Qsx50Aw4

The sad part is that Tom Homan is required to explain this to the blithering idiot. These people are attacking our country, the media is almost entirely in collusion with them, and unless President Trump pulls a rabbit out of his hat, I think we’ve already lost the republic.  I think it’s every bit as bad as that, as our friends and neighbors fire off their 4th of July fireworks in what seems increasingly like a memorial to a dead republic.

2020 is apt to be 1860 all over again.  We will either defeat them and put them on the ropes, or we will be faced with an all-out catastrophe that leads inexorably to the second American Civil War.  It’s astonishing and painful to think of it, but every election is one more opportunity to delay it, to forestall it, to prevent it.  In the mean time, I urge my fellow patriots to two courses that are in truth a single course: Prepare and fight. Fight and prepare.  Get your home and hearth in order for the worst possible events.  As you do, wherever you can, carry out the political fight knowing that to fail in politics is to resort to war.  Carry out your political pursuits with the fervor of those who know the truth of the only ugly alternative, opposed to the simple minds who blindly follow not knowing they are the intended cannon fodder for other peoples’ revolution. While you carry out the political battle, continue to prepare for the real one that our republic’s enemies are hoping to incite.  I will be talking about the kind of preparations you can make. I’ll be shifting the focus here a little. This may end in the ugliest of ways, and while we should fight like Hell to avoid such a thing, we must nevertheless be prepared for it, and be able to conduct it as necessary.  I really don’t wish to mourn for my country, but it may come to that, and if so, let it not be said that I hadn’t done all I could to prevent it. Prepare my friends, because it’s as bad as that. Fight with all you can on the political front while politics may still prevail, because time really is as short as that.

America Under Attack

Barbarians at the Gates

Our nation is being demolished.  Our culture is being fragmented.  Our children are being corrupted.  Our institutions are being destroyed.  Our society is collapsing from within.  Our moral standards have been thoroughly undermined.  It’s an attack on all fronts.  We are surrounded, Patriots, and we are losing.  It is being carried out with malice aforethought. The attack is disguised as other things.  It’s hidden in front of your eyes, right under your nose, in such a way that you will not notice it until it’s too late.  The attack has been unrelenting for quite a few years, but now we’re coming to that moment at which we are going to be overrun.  Ladies and gentlemen, I do not exhort others to violence.  Armed conflict may be avoided for a few moments more, but that window is closing.  If this is to remain a free country, governed by its own inhabitants in the first successful implementation of self-governance on Earth, it is time now to draw near to you all whom you love and hold in high regard, to ensure that they finally know what is being done to them, and how it’s being done.  They will ask about motives. “Why would anybody want to…”  The motive is irrelevant now.  We don’t have time to talk about the “why” of it.  It’s happening.  Right now.  If you and they do not now engage, we will lose the country.  We will go out with a whimper.  The United States of America is under attack, and our time to defend her is now, and we must defend her on all fronts at once.  We are surrounded by enemies.

America is a country, and while people think of countries as being defined by geographical boundaries, language, and culture, the truth is that any country is actually defined most by its law.  The law is a nation’s expression of the meaning and purpose; boundaries and limits; language and culture.  To fully defeat any nation, an enemy must destroy all of those things, but destroy them most of all in the law.  To conquer a country is not so hard if an enemy is able to capture the law.  Ladies and gentlemen, our law is now a hostage held in the hands of a vile throng of black-robed villains who will not observe the law that had been written, but merely re-writes the meaning of the words printed on the page.  This attack had been subtle in its earliest days, but now it is in the open.  Most of us stand by, hardly noticing, but doing nothing.

Robert Mueller is the latest major tool of the attack on the United States.  He is setting the stage for impeachment of the President of the United States.  The Democrats in the House will use whatever he produces as justification for impeachment.  I want you to understand this now: When (not IF) Donald Trump is impeached, this will signal the final phase of the attack on our law and thus on our nation.  I want you to know that upon that moment, I will consider every person so-engaged an enemy of the United States, guilty of treason, and subject to the legal remedies thereto.  It’s not that I love Trump so dearly, but that I know he’s the last man in power over the government who is actually on our side.

Their Army is surging to our border.  For years, decades, they have been smuggling them into our nation in ones, twos, and tens.  They’ve done so by any and every means possible.  This is the army of their communist revolution.  They weren’t quite ready yet.  They hadn’t expected Trump’s victory.  They thought they would have a number of years yet to continue building their army.  It’s now known that since the amnesty of 1986, they’ve managed to smuggle twenty-nine million people into America. That’s an army large enough to challenge any nation on Earth, but it’s also enough to overrule you in every election.  They are on the cusp of thereby capturing the law.  Once they capture the law, there will be no stopping them.  We must stop them now, or the country is dead and will soon be buried.

Yesterday, Speaker of the House Nanci Pelosi(D-CA) was in Austin, Texas, to speak about immigration, among other things.  Among the myriad of ridiculous ideas of the Democrat (treason) Party she discussed, she said this:

“So, when we talk about newcomers, we have to recognize the constant re-invigoration of America that they are, that we all have been – our families…”

and then:

“And these newcomers make America more American. And we want them, when they come here, to be fully part of our system. And that means not suppressing the vote of our newcomers to America.”

Do you understand what she’s actually saying here? She’s telling you that they’re not going to wait for the immigration process and the limit that is citizenship in order to permit newcomers to vote.  Do you understand what she’s carefully intimating?  She wants to let illegal aliens vote in our elections.  That is the death of America.  They intend to get all of this done while impeaching the only President who has ever done anything to curtail their plot against the United States of America.

Ladies and gentlemen, if they are permitted to do this, America is over.  Do you understand?  It’s as desperate as that, and if your relatives and friends who generally prefer not to get involved in politics simply lay back and let this go, it’s over.  Within a decade, the country, which many of you already consider unrecognizable from a few years ago, will think you had landed in Guatemala or Venezuela.  There is no gated community in which you’ll be able to hide.  There’s no mountainside bunker in which you’ll be able to hold off the hordes.  This is being done, and if Trump is impeached, there is nobody left to stop it inside of government.  Pence won’t stop it.  As you’ve seen, there is not a single damned Republican in Washington DC who will stop it, unless his name is Trump.

Anybody who tells you different knows what they are telling you is a lie stated in an attempt to put you back to sleep.  Just a little longer.  They just need a little longer, and they just need Trump ousted, or paralyzed.  Your country is being overrun. Seventy-six thousands of immigrants last month! At that rate, your country will be dominated by illegal immigrants in no time.  Then, Nancy Pelosi and her cronies will make voting by non-citizens legal.  They will capture the law, and your country will be wrecked by the law.

Do you understand? It’s happening. They’re doing it to us. They’re using their power to make us submit. Once illegals vote, how long before the Second Amendment and the First Amendment are nullified or even amended out of existence?  It’s not my intention to provide a breathless commentary, urging you to action, but by all that is Holy, it is time for you to gather the family and friends ’round and tell them what’s really at stake.  Show them.  Take the time and show them.  Explain to them.  You have the ability.  My readers are not intellectually insubstantial people.  I know this from the quality of the emails and comments I receive.  You all know what’s happening.  The fact that I don’t particularly love Donald Trump’s past personal conduct is not going to prohibit me from having his back in this war.  He’s the last thing standing between us and the abyss.  He must know we have his back. All we patriots must say so, loudly, now, and with once voice.  We must make it so loud as to strike fear in the hearts of the enemy.  The enemy may not be stayed much longer, but if President Trump calls upon we patriots to defend the constitution, I will respond, as vigorously as my middle-aged body will permit.  We must retreat no further.

I will uphold my oaths. This, I will defend.

Editor’s Note:  A late-breaking bit of news on the legal front as Mitch McConnell now says he’ll use the “nuclear option” to get Trump’s nominees through the Senate. I wonder what sort of concession he’s managed to secure in exchange.  This is why we must support our President, lest he be backed into a corner.

Best Buds

It should come as no surprise to readers of this website that having arrived late in the election season with a chance for Republicans to win the White House, and perhaps strengthen in Congress, with taking the Senate an at least plausible proposition, the turn-coats, the RINOs, the opportunists and the skunks will now come out of the woodwork to sabotage as many Republicans as possible.  Every media venue is beginning to drag them out from behind the curtains, and while a mighty wind struck New Jersey on Monday, an blowhard nearly equal to Hurricane Sandy both in breadth and volume sought on Wednesday to capitalize on the storm’s aftermath, inviting the man from the city that blows hard seemingly in perpetuity to join him on the Jersey shore.  Quite a couple this pair of wind generators made, missing no photo-op to look very gubernatorial and presidential, respectively.  Much like Barack Obama claims it’s wrong to politicize Libya (while politicizing Libya,) Governor Christie took full advantage of the opportunity to improve his own position with New Jersey voters, and yes, maybe even voters nationally, with an eye toward 2016.

Naturally, for that to work out, Romney would need to lose next week, and by playing Oliver Hardy to Obama’s Stanley Laurel, Christie did his best to position himself in all respects.  Of course, this is merely the presidential scene.  Other saboteurs were widely afoot.  Tucker Carlson did his level best to undercut Richard Mourdock in Indiana, suggesting that the Senate candidate cannot win, a fact that the long-time Dick Lugar protoge apparently finds satisfying, so it’s what I suggested long ago: He’s wealthy enough not to be worried about Obama-care.  To quote one-term Texas Governor Maw Richards, “he can’t hepp it, he was born with a silver foot in his mouth.”  Naturally, after his blatant sabotage on FoxNews today, I’d suggest that rather than his foot, it had been Carlson’s  head, though stuck in a different orifice.

I hope my fellow conservatives are working hard to get out the vote for our Senate candidates, because whatever happens at the top of the ticket, we simply must take the Senate. I’m not saying Mitt Romney will lose, as he in fact looks fairly strong at the moment, but let’s be honest about how things will go even if he wins but Harry Reid maintains control of the Senate.  With Boehner in the House, conservative concerns are certain to get rolled at every turn if we don’t re-take the Senate.

I expect that in the days to come, we will begin to see a parade of RINOs stepping out to deal dirt to conservative candidates. The establishment wing of the party doesn’t take defeat easily, and while we conservatives are always expected to rally to their candidates, they never seem to return the favor, instead undercutting conservatives.  Some have speculated the Christie’s actions are part of a ploy to somehow sabotage Obama, but that’s not it at all.  That’s far too complicated a ploy for the simple optics that Christie is gaining from this maneuver.  He’s simply an opportunist, and since his is a deep blue state, this is a way of staying in favor with the people of New Jersey, in part to position himself for his re-election and in part in case he makes a bid for the White House in 2016 in the wake of a Romney loss his actions today were intended to assist.  Quite simply, this kills two birds with one stone, and I knew when he erupted yesterday about not giving “a damn” for the politics, that just like Obama,  a political move on his part was imminent.  If it hadn’t been all about political “optics,” he wouldn’t have spent all his time on photo-ops.  Whatever other “October Surprises” might be in the offing, this one was entirely of Christie’s making.

As this post goes to press, almost as if by way of confirming my thesis, both New York’s Mayor Nanny Doomberg and retired General and affirmative action beneficiary Colin Bowell have shockingly endorsed Barack Obama.  I expect my readers to take it easy after that news as the mainstream media attempts to portray this as a surprise. Meanwhile, back on the East Coast, now that one of the mighty windbags has departed the scene, things aren’t going so well as thousands upon thousands of residents find themselves without shelter or food, and more than three million are still without power.  They’re fighting over fuel at the now sparse gas stations.  They’re siphoning it out of cars for use in generators, showing the utter lack of preparedness of so many governments in the region.  Once again, the coward-in-chief is off in Las Vegas.  I guess when the real hard work needs to be done, Obama can be counted on to arrive in the city he told people they ought not go.

I expect the parade of RINO back-stabbers to continue through the weekend.  It’s what they do.

Could We Face the Same?

I recommend my readers check out this piece over the UK Telegraphon what is going on with our friends across the pond.  They’re experiencing a fuels shortage to the extent that the government is being urged to begin an emergency program of rationing.  The issue began when a union of truck drivers who deliver fuels threatened to go on strike, and a government official, Francis Maude, a Cabinet Officer advised people to fill up their tanks and store fuel in storage containers.  Quite naturally, the people responded by doing just that, emptying filling stations everywhere.  While telling the people not to panic, the British government incited a panic, and the resultant run on fuels, in a shortage so severe that first responders there are having difficulty finding fuel to run their ambulances.   What we should learn from all of this are at least two important lessons, and I hope my readers will take note:  Governments cause panics by their actions, but more importantly, our fuel supply is more vulnerable than most people think, because of the structure of the supply chain.

If you drive to your favorite filling station, most days there will be no problem.  You’ll simply dispense the fuel, pay and depart, and there’s no fuss about any of it.  What most people don’t realize is that the amount of fuel out at filling stations is based on the expected, ordinary quantity demanded, and while there may be some small amount in surplus, it’s really not much more than a day or two extra under ordinary conditions.  Fuels are dangerous to store in large quantities, and EPA regulations have made the job harder, but most important is the notion of just-in-time inventory management which means retailers don’t keep more on hand than they will immediately sell under normal conditions.

The reason this matters to consumers is that it means that any small fluctuation upward in quantity demanded can quickly lead to a shortage. As we should have learned in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, anything that causes a shortage at the margins in one locale can quickly spread to others.  If there’s a run on fuels in just a few key locations locally, it can spread like a wildfire as displaced customers shift their demand to other locations, driving those to shortage, and thus pushing the shortage around.  As the shortages spread, panic takes hold, so that people descend on every location for fuel they can find.

This tells us a little bit about the psychology of the market and why such shortages can materialize for no apparent good reason, looking at the matter on a macro scale:  Is there enough fuel for immediate demands? Had people simply gone on with their ordinary purchasing patterns, would there have been a serious market-wide shortage?  No.  The problem lies in the fact that people can be moved by fear and uncertainty regarding the immediate future.  The notion that some days in the future, tanker drivers in the UK might be on strike, and might cause a shortage, was enough to cause a government official to make remarks that started a panic.  Even if the strike never materializes, it will take days or even weeks for the UK to restore things to the normal flow.

What this also should remind us is that on-hand supplies at retail outlets is never nearly what the whole market might demand at once.  At any one time, the capacity of every filling station is just a small fraction of the total capacity of every vehicle’s tank.  When everybody goes to fill up at the same time, the situation is made evident, because the on-hand retail supply can in no way match the condensed time frame of such a move by consumers to tank-up.  In the UK, they’re openly talking about rationing now as a way to restore the normal flow.

The more interesting part about this problem is the human psychology implied: When faced with potential shortages, we tend to horde in response, and this can clearly add to the problems. In the US, where we are much more dependent on fuels to maintain the course of our daily lives, commute and travel distances being so much greater, we’re especially vulnerable to panics generated by short-run, geographically-limited marginal shortages. For this reason, the US can be subject to very small-scale shortages turning into regional or even nationwide problems.  It doesn’t take much.  If a few gas stations over a metropolitan area run short, it can ripple outward and spread like a virus. People begin panic-buying almost as soon as they hear that there is a shortage somewhere nearby.

This is why our current situation is actually so precarious.  It doesn’t take much but a day or two of delayed replenishing in distribution to cause a serious problem.  This is also another reason we should seek to increase not only the amount of oil we produce domestically, but also to increase our refining capacity. The situation underway in the UK  is small compared to the impact such a panic could cause here, primarily because the geographical expanse of our country means that public mass transit isn’t economically viable in most areas.  In short, we need our fuel, and our lives have evolved to depend upon it.  It’s bad enough when governments do idiotic things like start a panic, but what’s worse is when they’re so utterly unprepared when they happen without government prompting.

The American people should be made aware that panic hoarding only worsens the problem and increases the span of time before a situation driven by natural disasters is resolved.  The goal in such a situation should be to delay purchase as long as possible, but that’s so counter to our nature that I don’t expect many people to react in perfectly rational ways.  The other problem we face is political, in that too few Americans understand just how fragile this system has become, and with it, all the dependencies upon which it relies.  If more Americans understood just how reliant they really are on an energy supply to maintain their standard of living, they might bring more pressure on politicians to get out of the way.

Wyoming Preparing for Disaster; Washington DC Making One

Considering "Doomsday"

Leave it to the good people of Wyoming to bring enough pressure to bear on their politicians that they have now actually begun to prepare for the worst crises that could arise, as they consider the condition of the Federal government, its debt, and the potential for civil unrest.  They’re even considering what to do about their armed forces should the worst occur, and this landlocked state is now considering how they would acquire an aircraft carrier.  That may seem just a little hard to swallow for some, but I think it speaks to the willingness of their legislature to prepare for the worst.  I believe the measures are prudent, and if only we could get the politicians in Washington DC to see it their way, there might well be a chance we’d avoid at least any “man-caused disasters.”  The sneering elites in Washington think this is high comedy, but for down-to-Earth Americans, not only in Wyoming, but elsewhere across the expanses of “fly-over country,” there is a keen awareness of how much trouble we’re facing.

In Washington DC, they have your money upon which to rely in order to continue their spending habits.  Out in Wyoming and around the country, state and local governments have seen a general reduction in revenues.  Property values are down, so property tax receipts are also reduced, and with so many homes in foreclosure, there’s been a corresponding rise in delinquency on property taxes owed.  In Washington DC, they just print up another batch, and they don’t have to worry about the cash because they can always raise taxes, or borrow more.  This is at the heart of the disconnect between the permanent ruling class in Washington DC that sees no emergency looming, but instead suspects it can make due on your back indefinitely.

Thankfully for the people of Wyoming, their legislature is at least considering the worst scenarios.  While we can ridicule the idea of a Wyoming armed force including an aircraft carrier, perhaps we shouldn’t be laughing, and instead checking with our own state and local governments to find out what sort of preparations they’re making.  Chances are, they’re not.  At this point, while Wyoming commissions a little money with which to study the matter, the Federal Government continues to the brink.  Spending, and borrowing, and regulating our lives has become its sole purpose judging by what they’ve done in the last few decades, but when it comes to the things it ought to do, the Federal government has no shortage of excuses.

Rather than mocking the Wyoming legislature for its so-called “Doomsday Bill,” perhaps the thing to do is to instead ask our own state and local officials what they’re doing to prepare.  They’ll baffle you with their local Office of Emergency Management, but I doubt any of them are thinking as broadly or constructively as the legislature of Wyoming.  They’re considering things like issuing their own currency if it comes to that, and how to deal with the worst behaviors of other men.  That’s not a bad starting point, and I wonder if while the elites in Washington DC are laughing now, should the worst arise, would the people of Wyoming have the last laugh.  It’s time for the laughing boys in DC to get the hint and take their cue from the folks in Wyoming, and begin to prepare this country for the hell that it coming, and that they’re creating.  They won’t, of course.

How to Stop Barack Obama

Friday, February 17th, 2012

"Resist We Much"

We are under constant attack by Barack Obama’s administration.  He is rapidly converting the United States into a vulnerable, weak nation that cannot defend itself against external threats, but polices its own people with an iron fist.  Evidence of this thesis comes from all quarters, and conservatives are placing all their hopes in the coming presidential election.  The thinking is that if only we can get the right candidate, and if only we can nominate and elect that candidate, once in office, that person will change everything.  Ladies and gentlemen, if you believe it will be so simple, you’re sadly mistaken.  This isn’t going to be easy, and it’s not going to happen without pain, but if you want to defeat Barack Obama, you will need to learn one word, and make it stick for all times, irrespective of the cost.  You must learn to say “no.”

The Obama radicals intend to overturn 230 years of liberty.  They now inspect brown-bag lunches brought to school by small children, making sure the meal complies with the Department of Health and Human Services(or Michelle Obama.)  There is only one way to defeat such a thing, and parents in the country need to find some ‘intestinal fortitude’ and take ownership over the lives of their children, as should have been the case all along.  Say “No.” Don’t send your kids to these schools.  Organize sick-outs.  Organize whatever is needed.  All you need to do to stop this is to refuse to comply with it.  Refuse.

Obamacare can be defeated in exactly the same way.  Refuse.  Refuse to buy insurance.  Refuse to pay their fines.  Refuse. The only word you need is “no,” but saying it, and sticking to it is the harder part of the chore.  Everything the leftists do requires your participation and consent.  Don’t give it.  Don’t participate.  Then their only option is to round you all up, jail you, or kill you if you decline.  Let me ask you bluntly:  Do you favor life as a slave?  That is the only option remaining if you accept their assault on your life.  I’m not suggesting you do this all tomorrow, but you should begin to prepare to do it when the government finally, inevitably arrives at that line in the sand across which you will not step.

It’s time you begin to turn this around on the leftists.  Call them what they are:  Torturers and rapists and murderers.  All they have is naked force, and they’re not as frightened of using it as you are of refusing to comply.  When people of faith are told that they must fund contraception that violates their conscience, it’s time to admit that you have nothing but a shell to lose, but with Obamacare, even that will be theoretical.  Your wallet is not yours. Your home is not yours.  Your life is not yours.  One by one, bit by bit, the radical left is taking over.  They are preparing to sweep away all constitutional constraints upon their actions.  What are you doing to prepare?  How will you resist?  These are questions that you must confront.

Here’s the dirty secret none of them wish you to know, and it’s important to your frame of mind with respect to their attack on your values, your rights, and your lives.  What the left hides from you is that in order for them to have power, you must submit.  This is not the same submission to the laws you know and respect, that merely require you not do a wrong to others.  This is a submission to aggressive laws that demand performance of some sort by you.  This is the secret.  Their attacks on you via the law require you to act.  The laws you honor merely require that you not act in ways that cause harm to others.  You do not steal, nor do you defraud others, and you certainly don’t murder.  Their laws require you to take specific measures, to act on behalf of their policy agendas, either via your wallet, or via your compliance with their demands.

Therefore, this must be your standard in measuring which laws you must continue to obey, and which have only the power over you that you give them.  I am not advocating anarchy, but instead a careful examination of laws on the basis that they either do or do not comply with the context the framers of our constitution laid down as the basis for all our laws.  Again, I am asking you to think this through because the time will come when you will need to know, and you won’t necessarily have time to think it through later, or deliberate it much.  This is your time to prepare, but the preparations mustn’t be nearly those necessary to survive off the grid, but to survive resisting the tyranny that is now unfolding.

Just as in your personal life, where you must draw clear boundaries lest others run over you, in this sense you must also know what it is you will refuse to do when the law makes demands.  A number of Catholics and others of faith are now preparing to make such a stand.  They have decided on drawing a line, and I want to warn you that some will abandon the line they have drawn, but others will refuse to walk back the boundaries they have laid down.  This is the distinction, and it comes down to the principles you hold dear.

The left lives in fear of you discovering your own power.  The left lives in dread of waking up in a world where you have learned to say “no” and mean it.  That’s it.  That’s your power.  It is born of knowing what lines you will not cross no matter their threats and their coercion.  Once you know this, there is nothing they can do to you that you cannot resist.  I do not promise you painless resistance to tyranny, but I am telling you that it can be defeated.  Start small to learn how well it works.  Learn to make a fuss.  Learn to call attention to their aggression.  Learn to scream at the top of your lungs without shame “No means NO!”  Place them in their proper frame, as murders, as rapists, and as thieves.

Titanic 2.0: Why the Elite Can Vote for Lefties

Too Few Lifeboats

Many of us wonder how it is that people who ought to have known better can possibly bring themselves to vote for the statists who are undermining the country.  Much like when the Titanic went down one-hundred years ago this coming tax-day, the elite are boarding the life-boats ahead of all the rest of us second-class and cargo-hold passengers.  Another of the rich and famous is making his plans for exit to New Zealand, as this time Hollywood director James Cameron is looking to get out of Dodge.  This should clear up the seeming contradiction, and just as I have told you that the elite don’t fear Obamacare as you must, if you love your life, for the same reasons, these same people don’t fear the collapse of the United States.  They’ll simply get themselves to the front of the line for the lifeboats, as America hits the last in a string of icebergs and heads to the bottom.

Don’t worry!  They love you!  They have compassion for you.  It’s just that, well, they don’t want their necks stretched when the rioting begins, so they’re going to get the hell out, which is an option that won’t be open to you.  No, you won’t be able to liquidate your assets and pull out for safer harbor, because after all, in a collapsing economy with a crumbling currency, to whom will you sell your homes and your chattel, and in the world in which you’ll be selling it, what do you suppose it will be worth?

No, these elites can come up with all the excuses under the sun, but their actions speak louder than their words. It’s about to get exceedingly ugly, and as they lock you down in the cargo hold, singing the praises of the captain of our stricken ship of state, we’re stuck.  They’ve made this mess, and now it will be we who will pay for it.  Don’t worry too much, however, because we’re safe until we see them actually flee for their faraway havens.  At that point, we’ll know.  You shouldn’t fail to prepare as best you can.

Warning: Euro May Trigger Global Collapse

What Democracy Really Looks Like

Over the last week, I’ve been watching events unfolding with growing concern, and while I truly hate the idea that I might inadvertently offer myself up as just one more “Chicken Little,” I must in all candor tell you that because the sky is not falling now, do not assume it will not fall tomorrow.  We’ve listened to the media talking heads, the pundits, the analysts, the economists, and even the politicians, and virtually all of them have made rosy predictions and hopeful prognostications for the immediate future, and your federal government feeds this view with its own phony numbers, endlessly amendable and adjustable statistics, and a common lie that consists of telling you: “It’s all going to be just fine.”  As I’ve reported to you within the last few weeks, more downgrades were coming, and banks moved Euro liabilities under cover of FDIC, but now the downgrades are here.  There will be more.  When the Euro falls, it may very well take the United States with it.  The time to prepare has very nearly expired, and there will be no turning back.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am now going to tell you the truth, and I will place no bunting of red, white and blue around it, because you deserve to know it all lest you be left penniless and homeless and starving in the streets, unable to defend yourself from the cold, never mind the brigands that will likely swarm our cities:  If the Euro collapses, the blow-back may not merely damage our economy, but thoroughly destroy it, and there is absolutely nothing we can do but deepen and worsen the results by more delaying tactics.  Businesses are scrambling to come up with options if the Euro collapses, but the truth is that many of them are now in a position from which they will not recover.   The choices you make now may mean the literal life or death of you, but it’s important that you know how we arrived here so that if ever there is a chance to arise anew, you will already know the answer.  Even now, the statists of Europe are seeking ways to loot you. One world government will come riding in on the back of this nightmarish trojan horse.

It is a truism that few wish to acknowledge that one cannot consume more than one produces without eventually becoming subject to the sort of collapse we now face.  It goes for nations as well as people,  and just as people can hide the growing disparity between their financial underpinnings and their lifestyles for a time, nations can do so, and for even longer and to a greater degree because they can pilfer the value of the few still producing among their citizens.  The problem is that just like individuals, even nations and unions of nations run afoul of nature’s basic truism requiring one to produce at least as much as one consumes.  Herein lies the sickening truth of the impending Euro collapse, and the collapse of all those who have tied themselves to the Euro, including the United States.  For far too long, far too many of us have lived without producing while others camouflaged their bankruptcy, willingly or [more often] unwillingly carrying their burdens.  No nation can survive that.  No people can sustain that.

The single currency of the European Union was advertised to make them more competitive as a trading bloc with the United States and Asia.  In truth, that’s not the whole story.  The Euro was also devised as the means by which to buy a little more time before the welfare states of Europe failed.  No rational person ever thought otherwise, and every politician from Rome to Madrid to London to Paris and Berlin has known this for two generations or more.  Your politicians right here in the good ol’ US of A have known it too, and yet when they had a chance to do something to change it, they instead accelerated it.  You might ask: “Why?”

The answer has ever been the same, and it is the endless pursuit of power at the cost of any and every principle.  This ambition has blinded mankind almost from the very start of the first civilizations.  In our modern society, if you think politicians are the greatest bribe-takers, I urge you to think again: Modern politicians are the greatest source of offers in bribery but the greatest recipients are we the people.  You wonder who is guilty?  He who offers a bribe is powerless in the face of rejection, but he who accepts that bribe is guilty for all his days.  In small increments, and in bits and pieces, the people of Europe were convinced to surrender their liberty in exchange for small bribes.  Over time, the bribes became so large that to maintain them demanded more and more from the producers, until the relative few producers began to join the gravy train.  While they bribed your silence and your complicity with the get from your neighbors’ pockets, be assured that they have been busily lining their own.

The Euro was concocted to hide this.  All those nations whose fiscal problems are now manifest have always been unstable, and it’s because successive generations of politicians in those nations have been carrying out this sort of bribery of its citizenry from time immemorial.  The French revolution was a Marxist affair, though not known by that name in those days, and nations such as Greece, Italy, and Spain haven’t been fiscally responsible for centuries.  The disease is not heritable, but it often visits subsequent generations, because it is born of a bad idea that is passed from one to the next.  That idea is statism.  Statism is the ruin of mankind, and always has been, because its fundamental claim is that man exists to serve the state before himself.  Whether statism took the form of Monarchy, Theocracy, Democracy, or some brand of Totalitarianism, it has ever been the bane of human existence, and yet no idea has more staying power among people than this one.  It plays upon one of mankind’s greatest weaknesses:  The temptation of covetousness and envy, born ever of sloth.  It is enabled  by the deadliest sins against nature, or nature’s God.  It offers the false promise of a life without discomfort, effort, or pain, but in the end, it returns only misery.

A little more than a century ago, this idea began to catch on even in  America.  It has slowly grown as a cancer, and it has spread its tendrils through every community, on every level, and in all things.  We’ve been hiding it, too.  This disease has its own fuel, and the Federal Reserve provides it, and not surprisingly, has been providing it for most of the time in question: Easy money.  Low interest rates and plentiful credit has made this possible.  Consider the individual who runs up a pocket-full of credit cards, and struggles to make the monthly minimum payments.  That’s our nation.  Just as a weak-minded, or necessity-driven person can quickly run into debt to a dangerous level, so too can a country, and just as the easy availability of credit can act as an inducement for an individual, so does it work as a great temptation to nations.  Nations fall when they permit politicians to bribe them with credit.  Look around you: How many votes have been bought by a budget that is nearly two-thirds entitlement programs?

As has been reported this week, our own Federal Reserve loaned out over $7 Trillion at impossibly low interest rates.  That’s half the GDP of the United States, in loans.  Yet you may rightly ask:  Where does the Fed get the money?  Answer: It loans it into existence, i.e., it prints it.  Only the promise of the debtor to pay gives it any value, but if that debtor defaults, well, the value of the dollar is diminished accordingly, but even if the debtor makes payments, there is always risk attached, and that risk is shown in inflation.  This is why the Credit rating of the US Government has been such a big deal:  It is the single largest debtor, and substantially so. As our government looks less and less likely to be able to repay its debts, while it continues to borrow money at an increasing pace, what do you suppose will happen to the value of your money?  Why did Thanksgiving dinner cost an average of 13% more this year than last?  Next year’s will cost 20% more, or worse.

This is the real truth of this situation, and unless and until you are ready to confront it, and to reject the myriad bribes from politicians, you are going to see things grow much worse.  Perhaps most frightening, they may have successfully engineered not only the collapse of the Euro, but also the Dollar, and every other major currency on the planet, but what they will offer as a “fix” is a global currency that will make of us all slaves to the same masters.  They will offer you more bribes, or at least threaten to take away the ones you currently enjoy, all so you will go along.

Ladies and gentlemen, make no mistake about it:  With the current crisis ready to explode in Europe, and with the state of our own economy, under the willfully absent leadership of Barack Obama, we are waiting on the edge of collapse.  This may be a most un-Merry Christmas, and it only promises to worsen.  If we somehow survive as a nation, it will be surprising, but it will only have been possible if we reject calls for a global currency even at the expense of the bribes we are now so accustomed to taking that we believe them to be our entitlements.  From now until then, you can spend your time in contemplation: Do you prefer life as a slave?  Many of your neighbors will say “yes” without flinching.  Somehow, somewhere, we must find the strength to say “No.”   Prepare, my friends, and by the strength of your preparations may the republic endure.

Possible Euro Collapse Sparks Civil Unrest Fears

Prepare For the Worst

Those who have been paying attention have known the Euro is in deep trouble, and much of it stems from the way in which is was created.  Too many member states were admitted which had currency that was overvalued for the merger, and they’ve done nothing to curb ridiculous fiscal policies in those countries.  This includes nations such as Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, but also to a lesser degree, France.  Now, it’s time to pay the piper, and predictably, nobody wants to do so.  Governments in Europe are now forced to consider what will happen if the Euro falls and the member states wind up reverting to their prior forms of currency.  Some estimates suggest that GDP would decline in Europe among member states by as much as half, or more, and that widespread unemployment on a scale that would dwarf any previous depressions in scale and depth.  In short, they’re now planning for a calamity, complete with riots and revolutions, and the reason is simple: It’s now a very real possibility. From a story in the UK Telegraph:

The Financial Services Authority this week issued a public warning to British banks to bolster their contingency plans for the break-up of the single currency.

Some economists believe that at worst, the outright collapse of the euro could reduce GDP in its member-states by up to half and trigger mass unemployment.

Analysts at UBS, an investment bank earlier this year warned that the most extreme consequences of a break-up include risks to basic property rights and the threat of civil disorder.

“When the unemployment consequences are factored in, it is virtually impossible to consider a break-up scenario without some serious social consequences,” UBS said.

Of course, many Americans are not moved by these tidings, somehow believing that we are insulated from a European crisis, but nothing could be further from the truth.  If such drastic circumstances arise in Europe, the effects will be global, and so will be the civil unrest that accompanies it.  This is the  kind of calamity from which there is virtually no escape, anywhere on Earth.  In such an environment, not only would our own exports to Europe would collapse, but also we would find our own currency in free-fall because we have so thoroughly tied it to the Euro.  The defaults alone would wreck our own currency, and leave the United States in a similar situation.

Reuters is now carrying a story about the French and German effort to establish some fiscal controls to stave off a calamity, but the truth is that this will likely be too little, too late. Some authorities realize that this will be a stalling tactic at best, and are using the time it may buy to prepare for what is increasingly being seen as an inevitable collapse. From the Telegraph:

A senior minister has now revealed the extent of the Government’s concern, saying that Britain is now planning on the basis that a euro collapse is now just a matter of time.

“It’s in our interests that they keep playing for time because that gives us more time to prepare,” the minister told the Daily Telegraph.

Recent Foreign and Commonwealth Office instructions to embassies and consulates request contingency planning for extreme scenarios including rioting and social unrest.

As is now obvious, this is all a play for time.  They’re buying time, but they’re not going to save things, and the Europeans seem to know it.  The question thus becomes:  What is our own government doing to prepare?  What are they telling you to do in preparation?  Nothing.  Your own federal government is behaving irresponsibly in the face of this looming crisis.

For three years or more, the hand-writing has been on the wall, and our own government has obfuscated and lied about the direction of things, but has done little to prepare the American people for the possibilities now in the offing.  Let me suggest to you that the recent sporadic reports of spikes in the purchase of survival supplies is an indicator that the American people have begun to figure it out without governmental warnings.  No rational person can examine what’s been happening on the global economic and financial front and not have some sense of the very real dangers now accumulating.  It remains a prudent course of action for Americans to prepare for any sort of emergency, but with the real possibility of complete Euro-zone collapse now seemingly imminent, prudence would dictate an uptick in preparedness planning.  Our own currency has been tied too closely to the Euro currency to avoid the consequences of its collapse.
